"Annex rooms are basic. Don't expect much in term of decor. It's a castle after all. It's good and cosy. But everything else outside the room is great. Quite, beautiful and relaxing landscape, which is worth much more than a modern comfy room. Staff is great."

"Beautiful property. Pulling in the drive is stunning. The interior is well decorated. The building itself is obviously older and it shows in certain areas: the toilet was unreliable, small cracks, bit of discolouration on tiles, and the pool floor isn’t sealed well so it has bumps and bounces. The room we booked for a family was perfect. The separation wall made the room feel much bigger and the kids loved having their own space. The TV selection was very basic and the TVs themselves were very slow. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. I did have to ask a lot of questions as some information wasn’t given initially but it wasn’t too inconvenient. The swim times for children was a bit annoying because we had to plan our day around it but I understand why they’re in place. We just would have liked a bit more freedom to choose when we wanted to go rather than set times. The bed we had wasn’t super comfortable, the mattress slanted on the edge. The pillows desperately need an update. They were very flat and offered no support. However the kids single beds were comfortable for them. The restaurant menu looked good but was expensive so we chose to eat elsewhere. Except for dessert which we did get through room service. The sticky toffee pudding was top 3 best we ever had. The grounds are vast and great for a wander. Overall, good stay. We would stay again as the experience itself outweighed any issues we had."

"A wonderful weeks holiday. House, enclosed garden and hot tub perfect us and our two dogs. We could relax knowing the dogs were secure. All the extra touches like dog bowls and dog towels. The patio chairs and bbq will be well used in the spring and summer although we did come home slightly glowing from the super weather. A great base for exploring waterfalls, caves, castles, hills and beaches. Arrived home relaxed, fitter and full of memories not forgetting a nice collection of seaglass from Seaham! Host Andrew was friendly, helpful and at the end of the phone if required. Thank you. x"

"From the first moment of getting there to the sad moment we had to leave this had to be the best place we have been as a family over the new year period, Jane was amazing as a host very informative and let you feel at home straight away. The property is everything and more to the point we only left the house once and that was for a lovely meal in the neighbouring village. One thing i will say is we can't wait to book again thank you for a lovely stay Jane and family."
