"The property is very Canadiana. Just what you expect in the north The room appeared to be freshly painted and newer bathroom. Had a very comfy bed Only disappointment was the breakfast"

"It is a very nice hotel, close to shopping and Santa's Village. Our room was large and fully renovated. It was on the second floor so we had to haul our stuff up as there are no elevators. The Staff is very friendly, and kind to children. There is coffee and tea 24hours in the lobby. The pool is nice and warm. But again be prepared to walk down several flights of stairs to get to it. From the pool is a view of the river and a deck you can choose to sit outside or in the pool area. The only Amenitie that needs work is the hot tub. There are no jets. It is just standing water. And it could have been a little bit cleaner."

Hidden Valley Resort, an Ascend Collection Resort

"This is a nice place for a gettaway and if you have kids even better. The beach is very nice. Not crowed and the water is sublime. You can wade out 100 feet or more and the water is at your waste or lower. The Kayaks and Canoes are nice to have. I went out most days in a Kayak. The staff are mainly young students but they are very nice and attentive. The pool is ok nothing special but great for kids. For seniors or those with mobility issues you might want to think twice about this place. There are 100 stairs to go down to the beach. No problem if you don't have health issues but it could be a concern otherwise. The general maintenance is not great. You can see that the resorts is managed on a tight budget but they take care of the essentials. The rooms are older though they are clean just don't expect luxury accommodations. We had a lake view and balcony which I recommend. Initally when we checked in we were given a room which was not the same as the description when we booked so just beware of this. The desk representative was so nice and she put us in another room with the balcony and lake view. The food is good although a bit pricey . Luckly Huntsville is close by so you have plently of options. One evening we had as entertainment a guitar player /folk singer who was excellent. Overall it was a nice gettaway. I would recommend it if you want to get away for a few days and not spend a fortune."

Windermere House

"One of a few beautiful iconic historic resorts left in Ontario. Only 58 rooms and personal touches ... not a huge hotel. Excellent dinner and location. Large pool and great selection of free activities like shuffle board and volley ball. Minor point ... shower curtain needs to be washed to remove mildew smell. Long covered porch with many outside dining tables. Would have been nice if more of this are was used for traditional lounge chairs to relax and read or talk on hot or rainy days."

Touchstone Resort

"Room was clean, but did have a bit of a smell at first, but it did seem to calm down after we had balcony door open for a bit. Staff did not advise that we could ask for towels to use at the pool. The rooms are positioned very high on the property, but unfortunately you can’t really see the lake due to the trees blocking the view. Kitchen in our unit was awesome. Room was very spacious. Really liked the layout of the living area and separate bedroom. The staff at the Touchstone Grill restaurant was great. The food was EXCELLENT! Overall, it was a great 2 day stay at Touchstone Resort and look forward to getting back there again soon."
