"This beautiful listed building is beautiful now into a 2nd year of a 5 year retorvation plan as i am told Our room was changed due to me being diabled Although it was spacious very clean with ensuite facilities it was very awkward to maneuver getting into the room as the door was very narrow and i had to take the foot steps off the wheel chair to swing in from the corridor. Once into the room the ensuite room was uneccesable with the wheelchair as them doors were even smaller . With having only one leg i found it awkard to get into the shower cubicle as it was about 6 inch high to take the waste pipes . I ended up sat on floor to shower . I do understand thing cannot be changed so easily in listed buildings without consent The bar was up to date and buzzing and the food in the restuarant was super good and also very busy .although had to overcome some steps to enter ,it maybe awkward to enter if totaly wheel chair bound for other people .so have some thought dissabled people when planning your eating requirements. Staff couldnt do enough for you in all parts of the hotel ,we had a great nights stay and will be staying again, once i get a little more mobile "

"Our room was an access room and it was fine, clean comfortable bed and wet room shower. All was good until breakfast. Which was not particularly busy. However multiple tables were uncleared and still with discarded plates cups etc we cleared a table. At the breakfast buffet all the clean plates were swimming with water. I was told the dish washer had broken and they were having to wash everything by hand, fair enough. But why put clean plates out that are swimming with water? I don’t like scrambled eggs, so asked if I could have two poached eggs, I was told no they only offered scrambled! The sausages were all very well cooked and that’s being polite! So all in all for a hotel costing over £200 for the night and breakfast charged on top of that a disappointing breakfast experience!"

"Hotel very clean, staff friendly. Check in slow as only one staff member on duty. Tiny pool, more of a plunge pool, busy. Excellent location, out of the city centre hustle. Great bus service into city. Lovely cafe across the road. Easy access for race course. Pricey but would stay again if cost was reasonable. Beer and larger cloudy in bar!"

"Location excellent, a short walk from Train Station and a Short walk into York City Centre. Breakfast excellent and room cleaned daily. The only disappointment was our room was street side and the noise from outside during the night was excessive. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs or book a riverside room. Rooms street side really need a better sound proofing."
