"The Upper House is in an idyllic setting, the outdoor space is beautiful, with plenty of parking. The property is traditional with some lovely features but could do with some updating, especially in the bedrooms. The gentleman on reception was lovely and really helpful, the rest of the staff were young and quite inexperienced and were in need of a mature experienced Manager to guide them. The restaurant food on the evening was of a good quality and well presented, the restaurant itself would benefit from updating and a thorough clean. The bedrooms were tired and unfortunately quite dusty. With a period property there are more areas to gather dust such as chandeliers, intricate wall sconces and decorations. The bed was old and creaky when you turned over in the night. The bathroom had been updated but unfortunately the sink had been fitted with a tap which would work well in a bath, but the water came out at an angle that missed the sink altogether if turned on fully. The cleaning of the bathroom was not thorough and there were some questionable stains in the hinge of the toilet seat and behind the toilet seat. The base bed sheet had a stain on it. The breakfast was well presented and enjoyable, however we were charged for my poached eggs on toast as they were not a menu item! I should’ve ordered the eggs Benedict without the hollandaise! Overall we had a very pleasant stay, and with some staff training and a thorough clean would return and recommend to others."

"Very impressed with The Manor. Super quiet location although in the centre of town. Room was spacious, clean and warm. Wi-fi worked well. Breakfast was delivered prompt (8-9am) with plenty to choose from. We only met the owner/manager who was very attentive and friendly. He also had lots of suggestions of things to do whilst visiting the area. Overall, it was good value for money and we’d stay again if back in the area."

"It is listed as: Entire apartment, Sleeps 2, Popular amenities, Self-parking included, Garden, Free Wi-Fi. The term Entire apartment is missleading. The fact is it is a room in a house. It is ensuit. This room is on the 1st floor. The Kitshen is shared and is on another floor. There is double bed, so technically you can have 2 people sleeping on the same bed. There is single parking lot infront of the house, but there are other parking lots walking distance from the house, for free. There is satisfactory WiFi. The room was clean, dust wise I didn't find any dust, no stains and the toilet is clean. One thing bothered me though, the whole house stinks of fish smell. There were people talking in the corridor and on the phone at night until almost midnight."

"We loved our stayed in this historic property. Some of the rooms were cleaner than others and some areas looked a little run down, for us, this added to the atmosphere but other guests may expect more manicured gardens etc. We were impressed with the quantities of tea, coffee, shower gel etc that were available for our use. The host was very friendly and helpful. Once we had settled in she kept in the background so we really felt that we had the place to ourselves."

"Definetly didn’t look as good as the pics. Took 20 minutes to run a bath. Had to keep the window open as it was boiling in the hotel. Where ever you moved you had creaking floorboards. Worst mattress we’ve ever slept on. No support whatsoever. Walls looked like either discovered or damp patches. No toiletries for bathroom except toilet roll. Regular clientele of the hotel look like it’s gets used as a doss house. Folk near the entrance drinking alcohol and smoking certain substances. Won’t be returning. Paid less for decent hotels with no problems and all the extras."
