My husband and I stayed at the Georgian in for the second time; both visits were so we could take part in Melbourne Marathon festival.
We chose the hotel because it is close to the MCG were we would be running, and it was affordably priced for our stay.
The hotel is old and could do with some work in places, but none of this is of bother to us. The room is clean and has everything we needed. Bed is quite comfortable. There is noise from the trains when they start early in the morning, but this was not a major concern for us.
Prior to our arrival this visit, I checked with staff if my husband would be able to have access to the dining room and be able to have some toast before heading off around 5am to start the marathon. I was told he could, but checked again when we checked in only to find that despite my questions, he could access the room but would need to provide his own food as everything was kept in the kitchen until breakfast time. We were given some after explaining we had checked previously and been told all was ok. He then found, at 4:30am, that there was no cutlery left in the dining room either. When I came down to breakfast at 7:40am prior to my race, I was told I needed to wait for all the food etc to be brought out- I had been told breakfast was from 7:30am, even though the sign said 8am. All was fine, but it was bit frustrating when I had checked times and availability of food multiple times prior.
We will definitely stay again, however, as it is a great place
