Check in process was the slowest of any hotel we have been to. Elevator was extremely slow. Ice machine on 2nd floor was broken. One positive was the staff dealt with kids running up and down the hallway knocking on random hotel doors at 10:30 pm quickly. Rooms were clean and in good condition though.

The staff was prompt and polite but the facility was a little run down. The elevator door had graffiti carved into it. There were places on the walls that looked like the wall paper had been sliced into and the toilet seat had dark stains on it. Also the hotel said no smoking but I smelled the strong stench of weed more than once in the hallway. To be honest the stay was okay but if you're looking for a place to feel comfortable, I wouldn't recommend staying at this location.

I needed to check in early to get ready for a wedding and the desk clerks were so accommodating and helpful for me to do this. Clean room, quiet night sleep and great air for this hot hot day. Enjoyed this stay...breakfast good too!

Good place if you need to be in or near Detroit

The Wingate was a fine hotel for me. The room was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was a bit limited, but there was hot food that was tasty. What I was most grateful for was that because we were there for two consecutive nights, we were placed on the top floor without families with small kids on either side of us. We had restful evenings both nights, even with the hotel full of young adults and small children.

There was a strong ordor of POT inside the hotel, the bathroom had mold in the tub, hotel was not very clean and on sunday there was no notification or warning that the elevator was going to be out of service for several hours. Staff was nice and polite that was the only good thing.

People were better than the place.

We grabbed a hotel last minute when our plans changed at our relatives. We booked a room for our stay while in Detroit and it met what we needed while we were there. Some things were missing like trash cans in the room, more than 2 large towels especially when we had 3 people staying, the key card kept not working....but each person at the desk was helpful if I asked for something and very accommodating.

The hotel lobby and common areas were dirty. The pool was closed for maintence and the small fitness room was disgusting. There was juice boxes and garbage all over and doesn’t look it has been cleaned in weeks. Breakfast was “ok” Room itself was nice and clean and comfortable. If you just need a cheap room to sleep this would work.

The Jacuzzi tub was not clean,the water didn't get hot and the fact that every time we left we had to have the hotel staff let us in our room because only the Master key card would work the lady that was on duty for 2-10pm was very nice

I will say that the positive was the staff was kind and helpful. We stayed in room 328 and it was disgusting. The carpet was so bad my shoes were sticking to it. There was tape all over the walls, food in the air conditioner, and when I opened the one bath towel in the room it was too dirty to use. We ended up checking out early. I would not recommend this place.
