"The beach is beautiful and the property is nice but not like Moon Palace Cancun. The staff is wonderful - Shemar at Jerk Hut, Shane and Whitney the lifeguards, Shavon and Tameka the beach waitresses. I would not go back for one reason. "My room was very outdated. When I first arrived the room smelled like mold. I let the front desk know and they sent someone to spray the walls with a solution. The rest of my stay I asked repeatedly to change rooms because I was uncomfortable with the smell. Each time my request wouldn’t be honored because the hotel was “fully booked”. I will never stay at a riu again. The only problem was the housekeeper. She was EXCELLENT and so kind to me."

"The staff and amenities were good, but we have given this property a five star rating for its location, setting and vibe. It is further down the coast from the big gated resorts and is close to the white river. If you’re independently minded and like doing your own thing - perhaps with a rental car as we had, or even if you don’t- then this offers more freedom than a mega resort .
