Martin was a wonderful host, he was friendly and conscientious about our stay.
The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and of a beautiful finish.
The only issue is a lack of lighting outside when trying to walk down some steps, but this was easily resolved with our mobile phone torch app.
The location of the hotel is great, it is a short distance to the town of Windermere and the train station and an easy 10 minute stroll to Bowness on Windermere where there are plenty of places to eat.
All in all we would stay here again and will be sharing our feedback with family and friends.
Our stay was generally ok but I wouldn’t really recommend this place - it really needs some investment & TLC
The room was generally clean but not dusted thoroughly. The plastic flowers in particular were caked in dust.
Bed was springy and very noisy.
WiFi doesn’t work
Bathroom door kept sticking and was difficult to open from the inside.
There was a leak coming from the back of the sink that was visible from the bedroom. It had stained the wall and carpet.
The towels smelled really musty. I asked the manager for new towels, to which he replied “depends why”... when I explained they were musty he gave me another set but nonchalantly told me these would smell too. Maybe they need to get a new washing machine/dryer if that’s the case?
The managers attitude in general was pretty poor, as we were checking in another guest asked him to turn the heating on. Once she’d gone he then made a snarky comment to me about her.
Loved our room. We had the downstairs room with patio access which was really handy to go to the car and not use the main guesthouse entrance. Room was very nice had everything you need and very clean.
ROOM SO SMALL UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR MORE THAN 1/3D SAMETOWELS 4 DAYS BINS NOT EMPTIED LIGHTOVER MIRROR U/S 2 SOCKETS U/S BED NOT MADE ONTUES IBEDSIDE LIGHT U/S PROBABLY THE WORST IVE STAYED AT BUT COULD NOT FIND ALTERNATIVE
excellent location not too far from the town, but enough so that you can have a quiet night, plenty of places to eat and drink, within easy walking distance. If you want to get out and about a bit, well located to do sight seeing. Lovely 4 poster bed plenty of room space.e owner Martin a lovely man.
Tepid shower, when asked for temp to be turned up, host said ‘I control the thermostat and this is how I like it.’ After 3 days of tepid showers, we wanted our towels to be changed so left them in the shower which we believe is a universal code for please change our towels. On return to the hotel after a day out, he had picked up the dirty towels and hung them to dry. We then proceeded to ask him for clean towels to which I pulled a face and questioned why we want clean towels. Reluctantly, he handed clean towels over. Room itself was big and looked great on the surface however on closer inspection it was clear the room had only underwent a superficial clean. Lots of dust, dead fly and bee on window ledge and an empty crisp packet under the bed. Lovely. As for the host himself, we found him to be a sarcastic, rude and quite frankly an arse of a man. He made us feel like an inconvenience by expecting certain standards ie, hot water, fresh towels and clean room after we had paid for the so called ‘superior suite.’ Our recommendation would be to avoid this hotel, more importantly avoid the man, and enjoy your stay in the wonderful lakes somewhere else.

Some plug doesn't work but the room is nicely decorated
Enjoyed our stay in Room 8 - comfy bed, spacious room which is situated to the back of the hotel away from the road so very quiet. The room had a luxurious feel and had it's own entrance onto a terrace at the back. Modern shower room with a good shower (hot and cold seemed to be the wrong way around but once we realised it was a great shower). Would stay here again. Hotel's location is good, walking distance to Windermere and about a mile (we always walked) from Bowness on Windermere from where the cruise boats depart - the liveliest town on Windermere.
Room was lovely, clean and a comfy bed. Location was excellent for walking to both Windermere and Bowness, about 10 min walk. However there was no breakfast which was disappointing and the shower was so extremely hot that you could hardly use it, there didn't seem to be a cold water feed to it so the temperature could not be controlled. Overall though it didn't ruin the weekend but I would stay for any longer than that!

We booked our stay here on the fly, traveling from Renwick to Windemere and wished we'd had more time so we could have stayed somewhere better. This venue is very literally a small bedroom with an ensuite ONLY. Ultimately we opted to stay here because out of the two options we'd narrowed it down to, this property was advertised on Wotif, to included breakfast. So for the money, it seemed reasonabl given it was mid-term school holidays. HOWEVER upon arrival the Manager, Martin, assured us breakfast hasn't been included nor served at this premises for over two years!? :{ In lieu of the provision of breakfast (which we believed we'd paid for) we expected an in room bar fridge, toaster and maybe microwave to accompany the 'tea and coffee making facilities' (aka a kettle, teabags and instant coffee) so we could provide/make our own breakfasts before venturing out for the days HOWEVER there were NONE? The showers did have bad reviews previously posted and these reviews were spot on. Room 5's shower has amazing pressure when the water is set to SCALDING. When the temp is humanly tolerable, the pressure is pathetic. This was a very disappointing stay for us. We'd only recommend staying, if your fully aware of the premises limitations and it fits with your needs. It's ideally suited to a couple who need somewhere to 'roll-on-into' for a night to rest their heads.
Perfect location. The comfiest beds ever! Really happy with our stay. Showers not too good but managed ok for our 2 night stay. Would definitely stay again.

We were quite disappointed to find that there was no breakfast offered. We had booked under the impression of it being a Bed & Breakfast!
Overall our stay was OK. The owner seemed a nice guy, although summoning him using the doorbell was a hit-and-miss affair. When we arrived, it took a while for him to appear.
We had a problem with the shower in our room, it ran very hot! So, the morning after we arrived, we rang the bell and waited, but he never appeared. In the end I called the hotel's phone number later in the day and left a voicemail message. We were moved to a different room though, which we appreciated.
However, both bathrooms had smelly towels, which was pretty off-putting.
