Only difficulty is the narrowness of parking on site and the limited spaces, otherwise, great service and a very hearty breakfast to set you on your way. Helpful service at reception and the breakfast service.
The Swan is a top class hotel. Nice comfortable rooms, very quiet, with very good shower over bath, spotlessly clean.
Very friendly, polite and helpful staff, reception sraff excellent. Amazing to get free parking too.
Our stay was cut short due to an emergency back home, but we will be back.
I loved every thing!
The hotel, the room we had, the staff -super friendly and helpful, the food, the location
I went there for a wedding, coming from USA!
Worth the trip!
English countryside ❤️
Disappointing that the view of the room isn’t advertised when booking, had to upgrade to get view of cathedral. Food at breakfast great.

Lovely stay
Beautiful, historic hotel with a lovely terrace looking onto the cathedral. Room nice and perfectly clean. Bathroom tired and dated but clean. Great, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was top quality. Recommended.
Overall our state was very nice, but the hotel was very particular about us not checking in until the exact check-in time. Other places we stayed had much more flexibility. Thankfully we didn’t have big bags with us so we could carrier things easily.
Fantastic historic old hotel.location right opposite the cathedral and within walking distance of everything you’d want to see Car park is a challenge I’m glad I didn’t have to undertake and got my partner to do it. Lovely large room. Not too sure what made it superior over a standard room .Bed was too firm for me so didn’t get a great nights sleep but my partner did and it wouldn’t stop me from returning Bathroom was a little tired and could do with a refurb. Fan in the room was great. Breakfast was nice and all staff really friendly and helpful

Not a four star property front desk staff needs more training
This hotel is really quite stunning in appearance and location. The staff are friendly and keen to assist and the food is fabulous. Wells was incredibly beautiful. The only issue that we had was that we were right at the top of the hotel in the heatwave and with no air conditioning, the heat was unbearable, even with a fan. The fan was so loud that neither me or my teenage son could sleep well. Other than that, this hotel was fabulous.
The hotel is beautifully situated in the centre of Wells with a view of the cathedral. Our bedroom view, however, looked out on an alleyway with dustbins. I had hoped for something a little better, since I'd paid extra for a superior room.
Our room was very comfortable, but if I'd been shown a picture of it without being told where it was, I could possibly have guessed it was part of the Best Western chain, but not that it was in an historic coaching inn.
The staff were helpful, friendly and polite.
Rude unwelcoming front desk girl. Dirty room carpet. Broken bathroom door lock. Awful uncomfortable chairs in bar and lounge - which used to be cozy classy areas and are now plastic trashy areas with no style or ambiance.
Wells itself is a charming place but I’m afraid this is not a hotel we will be returning to again. A rather frosty receptionist, a tiny bedroom in the basement of the hotel with a window view of stairs and smokers meaning the room also became smokey, and a bathroom needing urgent repair to the side of the bath as the panel was completely damaged and the room needed redecorating and new lamps etc. Additionally we couldn’t sleep as we could hear the people in the room above us conversing and the bed mattress left my partner and I with really uncomfortable backs. Parking is a bind too. The hotel really need to consider a better option than sending you down a back road on the off chance that a space may be available. We had no choice but to pay for parking in a car park as there was nothing available elsewhere. All this for £164 per night. We travel a-lot both around the UK and all around the world and this didn’t really feel like a 4 star experience. Will definitely return to Wells again but we will look for somewhere a little more comfortable for our accommodation.
The hotel has lots of character with rooms spread across different buildings. I was given plenty of information in advance about my stay including a warning that there was an event with disco going on. Not a problem at all and never even heard it!
The only slightly disappointing part was the evening meal. The choice was very limited, 2 of the main course options were fish and there was a supplement for the steak. I chose chicken liver pate to start (given a more fancy name though) and it came with a piece of toasted bread from a sliced brown loaf and a tiny lettuce leaf . The pate itself was bland and let’s say you could buy nicer from Aldi. I realised next morning it’s the same bread they use for breakfast and a crusty ciabatta or similar would have elevated the starter. My partner had chicken Caesar salad with almost non existent dressing. My main was salmon with crushed new potatoes, cooked well but lacking in flavour and my partners smoked haddock was similarly bland and both rather small portions. We decided not to spend another £7 each on a dessert in case that was not up too par. We were told on arrival that there were only 2 tables left for dinner but in fact there were more like 10 or 12. Maybe all the staff were dealing with the wedding?
Breakfast was fine but I think they’d run out of baked beans by the time we had ours.
A great location for exploring Wells and the convenience of parking was good.
The place needs some TLC. The staff need customer service training.
When we were leaving the receptionist didn’t even ask if we had a nice stay, just put your key card at the end.
Really disappointed with the hotel

We had a standard bedroom which was very small and claustrophobic, the bed linen was looking rather worn and grey. The heating system was too hot during the night ( unable to sleep due to heat) then off when you woke to get ready for breakfast??
Shorten our stay even though prepaid as very disappointing.
Also unable to eat in the restaurant on either evening due to no tables available, you would think as guests we would have some priority.
Beautiful room but on arrival noticed several blood stains on duvet cover and pillowcase. This was reported immediately and the bed linen changed promptly. Poor lighting in bathroom, no way you could apply make up. Evening meal very nice but cooked breakfast a bit disappointing- scrambled eggs luke warm and sausage not cooked sufficiently. Generally a good stay staff very pleasant and helpful.
Beautiful big room overlooking the High Street, spotless bathroom, very comfortable beds, excellent food in the restaurant, great breakfast, friendly and efficient service throughout - what's not to like?!
