Very Good

Service was above and beyond. The owners are extremely friendly and made us feel very welcomed. The suite was very comfortable and had a great view of the lake.
Such a lovely place to stay with a courtyard for off-road parking. The Italian owner helpfully spoke good English. He said he also spoke other languages as well. It is right on the edge of the lake and the front rooms have a view over the lake and the back rooms have a delightful view of the mountainside and over look a courtyard with typical Italian buildings.
The owner and his wife were lovely, warm, helpful and hospitable. The rooms have what you need and the bed was comfortable. Opposite the hotel is a small outdoor public swimming pool and you can also swim in the lake but I'm not sure where. There are a couple of cafes/eateries near in addition to the Caffe itself which has indoor and outdoor seating and served a wonderful continental breakfast which was inclusive, of brioche, bread, egg, cheese and salami, juice and coffee. We also had lunch with a simple but delicious home cooked typical Italian food using fresh local ingredients.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
The location and cleanliness of the hotel were very good. Being so close to the lake and having a parking lot was convenient. We stayed with our dog. On the first morning, when I took him outside, he urinated on the gravel parking area in front of the hotel. At that moment, a hotel staff member saw this and shouted at me in an extremely rude and loud tone, saying things like ‘He can’t pee there, clean it immediately,’ giving me orders. She told me I had to clean it right away and fetch a bucket to do so.
I was honestly shocked by this behavior. For a hotel that accepts pets, such an attitude is simply unacceptable. A dog’s owner cannot control exactly when or where the dog relieves itself. Of course, if such an accident happened inside the building, one would naturally take responsibility and clean it up. However, it was a park area fully covered with gravel, and being yelled at — almost scolded — in such a tone is unacceptable. It was very unpleasant to have our holiday overshadowed by the approach of such an inconsiderate staff member
Me sentí como en casa. La atención de sus dueños fue amable. Gracias

Skuffende
We stayed 9 days/nights at this hotel. Our room was nice and was very clean. The hotel, as a whole, was very nice. We were there during a hot spell and our room was almost unbearable, but that was mother nature! We did have fans that helped to cool the room down. We only had a couple of concerns. Vittorio, the owner, was almost rude to us at times. We tried our hardest to warm him up to us, but he remained cool to us. His wife, however, was always warm and provided us with terrific service. Also, we had a conversation on their patio with a man who was from Denmark-who had moved to Valsolda one year ago, and one of their cafe servers who was from Germany who had also moved there several years ago. My husband and I are from the USA and during our conversation things took on a political edge. These two made some insulting comments about Americans and made sure to tell us that people from other countries were "laughing at us." Not my husband and I personally, but Americans in general. The man from Denmark also stated that we should be careful while we were visiting. We didn't take this as a threat, but as fair warning. In all, we enjoyed our vacation and drove around the lakes and into Switzerland. The hotel is very nice, quaint, clean and the owner's wife is a lovely hostess. I will also say that though the owner, Vittorio, was cool to us...he makes a great lasagna.
Correcting an adverse registration experience: we could not locate this property for the first night of a two night stay. Problem was one of topography not the hosts. This is an area of steep hills and tunnels. Google maps actually showed the location was inside a tunnel! Found the property in daylight on the 2nd day. My suggestion would simply be to go to Valsolda and specifically, San Mamette, and inquire of the locals if you don’t happen to see it along the road. The owner, Victorio, is extremely engaging and well known in the community.
Bottom line: Excellent Stay, lovely accommodations and a grand local experience.
Etablissement bien situé. Le patron est super sympa et parle un peu le français. Tout le monde est aux petits soins. Petit-déjeuner très bien et dîner également.
