The location was incredible, we were walking distance from the national park trailhead, soft brown dirt roads. The home is surrounded by a desert garden full of birds and wildlife. We actually SAW A HUGE JAVALINA walking back from the national park one evening at dusk (it grunted, and ran off into the underbrush). The host was amazing, such an interesting person, he used to own a famous restauraunt, and he made my wife and me the BEST BREAKFAST WE HAVE EVER HAD IN OUR LIFE, home made natural Arizona fruit cups with homemade cream, corn bread pancakes he invented, chorizo sausage he made. This was incredible, our first trip to Tucson, we fell in love.
We stayed here in May and can say it was the best experience we've had, be it hotels or B&Bs. The house is beautiful and spacious with beautiful grounds. Janos made us totally welcome, and as noted elsewhere, the breakfasts are unbelievably good. We wanted a place in proximity to the Saguaro NP, but didn't count on our lodging being as unique and memorable as the park.
This is a delightful, quiet, peaceful place with a great host. Janos Siess is a friendly guy with many experiences around the world, delightful to visit with and a great chef. The breakfasts were over the top. If there are no vacancies for your dates, see if you can sleep in the yard just to be there for breakfast.
Luxurious. Quiet, peaceful, dreamy. The owner could easily charge $300 a night for this place. Everything from the desert landscape, the super comfy bed, the jetted tub, the graciousness of our host and the amazing breakfast was a five star experience. One of the best lodging experiences we have ever had... and we travel a lot. We saw a coyote and a pack of javelinas while out walking at sunset. Saguaro national park trails are within walking distance of this B&B. What a treat.
We loved this Bed and Breakfast. Great location, close to the National Forest. The room next to the pool was lovely. The bed was a little too soft but the three course breakfast was great.
Where to start? I could go on and on about this place. Suffice it to sat that my wife and I liked everything about the SunCatcher Fine Country Inn; our pleasant and thoughtful host, our spacious and quiet room, the beautiful house, and the unbelievable breakfast, just to name a few.
We usually don’t stay at B& B’s, however, it looked so inviting. Our host, John, was very hospitable. I think the breakfast was the best I have ever had. The room was spacious. The bed was more than comfortable—it was heavenly. Even the Italian sheets were ironed!!!!
Our Amazing 50th Anniversary Stay at the SunCatcher Inn
My husband and I had a delightful experience staying at the SunCatcher Inn to celebrate our 50th anniversary in January 2018. We were greeted warmly by our gracious host, Janos; and liked conversing with him especially during his incredibly large, delicious, relaxing gourmet breakfasts served with amazing garden vistas. These wonderfully filling and beautiful meals jumpstarted our days. The Sun Catcher Inn has a wonderful old Tucson feel, decor and design with outstanding views from the home and gardens. We stayed in the roomy and tastefully decorated suite with its wonderfully comfortable king sized bed and bedding with a uniquely designed kiva fireplace and large ensuite. We usually ended our days with a soak in the private hot tub accessible by sliders off our room and were treated with beautiful sunrise vistas in the mornings and evenings. We had a restful, refreshing stay in this lovely Inn centrally located enjoying its ambiance, our host and the friendly dogs also. We hope to return and hated to leave. Thank you, Janos, for your fine hospitality.
If you enjoy the Arizona outdoors, there are few locations better than Suncatcher--just a short walk to a hiking entrance to the Rincon section of Saguaro National Park. The rooms are spacious and the grounds beautiful. Janos's breakfasts are not only the best I have ever eaten, but probably the largest. We had originally booked four days and were delighted that we were able to extend our stay to six.
What a quiet and beautiful spot, perfect for a relaxing getaway - loved every minute. Hosts Janos and his wife very nice and helpful about the area too.
The host was as friendly as could be. Super cool interior with artwork galore. Rooms clean clean clean and extremely well appointed. Breakfast will leave you full for the entire day! Wonderful.
Janos, who is the Inn keeper is quite the host and Chef. The rooms are very large and uniquely decorated. The main common room is large reminds me of a European Inn and is full of interesting art and decor. Breakfast can be served pool side or in the mail common room. The breakfast is the best I have ever had. The owners have lived in this area for many years and are full of knowledge about the area. Loved our stay at the Sun Catcher:-)
This was the highlight of my trip to Arizona. The host was very accommodating . The rooms were outstanding and the breakfast was topnotch. Janos went above and beyond to accommodate us.
This was our greatest stop on our Southwest journey. A facinating architecture is matched by fascinating furnishings and artwork, and picture windows that open to a natural desert landscape. Tables outdoors allow you to sit right in the middle of it, all as comfortably as your own resort. It's a bit out of the way and worth it. Breakfast is devine! We showed up the wrong day and not only did they welcome us, but also gave us the largest room. In fact, we just about had the whole house to ourselves. We will be back. -- Rick Sherwood
After visiting for 25 years, SunCatcher is the best place I've stayed in Tucson!
Janos serves a great breakfast that lasts the day. If you're into biking he can arrange to have bikes delivered...and biking from SunCatcher is a lot of fun. The pool and hot tub provide a perfect end to rides to the many trails or hikes into the Saquaro NP.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here. We loved the country location with easy access to local restaurants and sights. The breakfasts were to die for, nothing like we have ever experienced. Great wifi and tv reception so we didn't have to miss our March Madness games!
The location was perfect for us... The trailhead for the Saguaro East national park was a 5 minute walk, and the beauty of the desert foliage was phenomenal. We really enjoyed seeing this whole area. The Suncatcher's gated compound was amazing and full of art. Although our host, Janos, has scaled back this operation somewhat, the hospitality for the two rooms they rent is beyond compare; these are fascinating people with a facinating property. The bathrooms are huge. The gourmet breakfast will be the best and most interesting you've experienced, guaranteed. This isn't about gooey pastry, it is about good food with lots of great ingredients. Downside? There are limited restaurants in this area, you'll have to drive a bit to get dinner. No fridge or coffee pot in the room, just be prepared. Coffee service starts at 7:30 am, we went bird watching before breakfast. Would we stay here again? Heck yes!
