A B&B in NZ? Wow! Rare!

Fantastic B n B, giving you the run of the house and down to the creek to feed the eels! Really comfy bed and excellent shower too. Topped off with an eggsellent breakfast.

Our host helped to guide us and our route and our hiking in both national parks and gave us some amazing tips and insights. Lovely eclectic Edwardian property with interesting artwork and sculpture. Wish we had stayed longer

Peaceful interlude

A fabulous B&B that is made so friendly and enjoyable by the host Mark. Front green room with stunning views and a verandah was great. The breakfasts were the highlight as it was in the formal lounge room and cooked to perfection by Mark. It was a very welcoming stay thank you Mark.

Especially lovely stay

Shady Rest is filled with character and warmth, including lots of eclectic art, furniture and decor. Mark is a wonderful host who is passionate about running his B&B, making guests feel totally at home, offering terrific suggestions on places to see, and making a lovely breakfast. The little town is under a 1/2 mile walk so it’s very convenient to walk to dinner if you want to keep it simple. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Dave was an exceptional host and didn't mind the (very) late check-in at all. He even let us change rooms free of charge after we accidentally booked a single room instead of a double.The breakfast was amazing and we loved his chef outfit so much. Everything was literally a 10/10.

Ausgefallene, sehr kreative Einrichtung. Etwas plüschig , aber geschmackvoll. Herzliches Personal, Empfang mit Kaffee und Tee. Wir hatten ein Zimmer zur Durchgangsstraße Straße, weswegen es leider ein bisschen laut war. Für ein B&B erscheint uns der Preis etwas zu hoch.

Zeer aangenaam verblijf

Nog nooit zo een close contact gehad met een B&B gastvrouw die zichzelf uit de naad werkt om ons als gasten alles te bieden wat je van een B&B verwacht. Janice is echt een fantastische persoon en is zeer familiair als je het toelaat. Het huis is 107 jaar oud en dat zie je er aan doch dat heeft een enorme charme. Het lijkt in het begin wat shady maar daar moet je doorkijken. De kamers zijn goed en toen er een elektrisch probleem was met de stopcontacten, hebben we een upgrade naar een grotere kamer gekregen. Super ! Locatie is ook top. Nog eens bedankt Janice !

The property is unique. Classic villa with plenty of fascinating objects to admire. We loved our room with its quality carpet, beautiful lamps and most importantly a comfortable bed. Most importantly the warm welcome by the owner plus the timely offer of ' a cuppa' on arrival.
