I choose to stay at this hotel for our vacation in the Phoenix region because it was in Scottsdale and it didn't seem like your ordinary hotel. I liked the place it was nice and quiet, though it could have been better. The bed seem to sink in towards the middle when two people were on it. The remote was a video controller that was attached to the TV, so to turn it on/off or change volume, you had to get up. But the morning breakfast was excellent. Only had the basic room, though according to expedia we were able to get an upgrade, but didn't. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for something a little different. Located in a good area.
This hotels offers great service, the complimentary breakfast is outstanding and I love the fact that there are several pools available and the location is better than some of the more expensive hotels.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Waterfront Ivy. The room was spacious, complete with eat-in kitchen, full living room, and big bathroom. The staff was accomodating, and the free breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. Not your typical continental breakfast.
Staff is unfriendly and do not respond to Guest concerns. There were only 4 towels for a room that sleeps 8. Door knobs don't turn, door locks don't work, tile coming up general ill repair. This property did not meet my expectations the website showed.
I found the Hotel Waterfront Ivy comfortable and a good value for the money. I had a one bedroom suite, which is the equivalent of a one bedroom apartment. The living room furniture was a little dated, or maybe they were going for a "retro" look, but it satified my needs. I had planned on renting a car when I got to Phoenix, but I hadn't realized that my drivers license had expired the week before. This caused me to have a little more interaction with the hotel staff as I quizzed them about places to eat within walking distance of the hotel, asked them to call me a cab, etc. They were very helpful and friendly.
When I was checking out the website for this hotel prior to going to Phoenix, I thought the pool looked really small. I wasn't planning on using the pool, but I thought this might be some indication of the other accommodations. Well, if you have the same impression that I did from the picture of the pool, or if your planning on using the pool, you should note that, while the pool is relatively small, there is a pool for every building. I was in Building D, so I walked by 3 of these pools before I got to my building and my pool. I'm going to guess that there are 6 to 8 rooms per building.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. We thought it would be resort like, but it was much more motel like.
We had to switch rooms to get away from some of the road noise. Then the towels in the new room were dirty.
Wonderful location for shopping, dining and sight-seeing. Located in the middle of every thing. So much so, that there is no possible way to see it all. Great comfort in the very spacious rooms.......right down to the rubber ducky in the tub and the down pillows on the beds.
The one bedroom suite is very spacious and convenient. Most of the staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. Great location in Scottsdale. Our onky disappointment was the internet connection, which is dial-up. We didn't have software on our computer, so it was of little use.
I was surprised to find that in the 2-room suite we had a full kitchen and a good-sized living room area. The hotel itself and rooms have the feel of apartments so I wouldnt be surprised if this was an apartment complex turned into a hotel. There were four of us staying in the suite and we were more than comfortable. The room accomodates up to six and I don't think that would have been too crowded. The hotel was clean and kept up well. The service at the front desk could have been a little more friendly and helpful. Overall though, a good stay and the price was right.
