  • #walkingwithdinosaurs - its an incredible show to see. The dinosaurs are very real looking and the narrator takes you on the journey back into time where you feel you are there. (an fantastic learning experience). Worth viewing but it is expensive. Our advice - look out for hot deals. We managed to get half price tickets. I would also recommend for ages 6+ . Found younger children may find it a little scary and it can be loud.

Cheap stay, amenities were clean, only downside was a stain on the bottom sheet, fans only could do with air cons in the rooms as on a hot day the room would be very hot, Staff were friendly Close to other places to eat if you don’t like the menu at the pub

The room was very basic but it was clean, tidy, and did the job very well. The room and bathroom were freshly renovated. The bedroom was quiet with minimal noise from the hotel downstairs.

Is what it says on the tin. Shared bathroom is cleaner than anywhere else I've stayed. Bed is really comfy. Price is very good. Very very convenient for John Hunter hospital.

The room and shared bathroom was very clean and looked recently renovated. The mattress was comfortable but BYO pillow as the pillows were very flat. Only one power point in the opposite corner of the bed - staff helpfully provided an extension cable. No bedside table. Clothes rack and sink in room. No air conditioning but thankfully the ceiling fan was sufficient that night. No tea/coffee making facilities. Noise from the pub was not an issue on a school night but some noise from the street and traffic lights. Rooms 4,5,6,7 and 8 are directly opposite to the shared bathrooms so get more noise from there. Convenient location close to the hospital.

2nd time we have stayed here and it is absolutely convenient and affordable. The king size bed is so comfortable and the ensuite has a bath if you want.

Good value - I heard the pub music till midnight and some traffic noise in the morning so not the quietest location. Staff were great and pub is nice place to hang out. There is nothing in the room other than a bed and sink.

We arrived a day later than planned due to the storms. Upon being shown to our room, we were told about the painting that was occurring throughout our stay. Unfortunately due to medical reasons, we could not stay with the painting occurring. We asked for a refund and the staff were very kind and actioned this request. The refund was gratefully received 1 week later.

Motorbike ok.

Nice atmosphere and location. Just shame no fan operational. Little bit hot and stuffy until open windows and door for a while. Some old fashion entertainment.

The staff were amazing, but no air conditioning upstairs where the rooms were and was like a sauna it was a 30* degree day plus our fan in our room didn’t work properly it was just on slow motion so it was very uncomfortable trying to get ready to go downstairs to the pub to a function We couldn’t sleep because it was very uncomfortable way to hot Plus soap should be provided in the bathroom for washing hands

Didn't stay for the night as we could not find a close parking space. Main problem is with Wotif, who did not give detailed specifics; culminating in a non-refund. The General Roberts Hotel looked good, from the photos, which is why we chose it for a one night stay. Will not use Wotif again. When I phoned the Hotel to cancel the room, staff were friendly and understanding. Above ratings based on photos and what the property looked like as we drove nearby.

It was advertised as having parking. There was no air conditioning, fridge and the windows didn’t open and the fan had a massive layer of dust so you couldn’t use it. The shower was not clean. However the staff were wonderful and friendly.
