The Wi-Fi didn't work. The smoke alarm was open battery disconnected reconnected the battery and it was dead. The view from my back window was of a shovel in the ground. Evidently they were checking the septic system the covers were cleaned off that's why the shovel was there. And farther back there was a burn pile with a mattress and some other debris on it.

Dust, no heat, no way.

Once I paid they gave me an electric heater and said use it if you need it. It was a 2 day stay. I got to the room and found the interior heater had caught fire, hence the electric heater. I found dust on everything. I reached up to grab a towel and dust bunnies came floating down. No one came to clean the room during my stay. The TV would only turn on from the TV. Although you could change the channel using the remote.

Back to the 60s!

It's an old fashioned motel, back from the days when you saw a place by the road with all the rooms in a row. Checkin and checkout were easy. The room had things unplugged, as if the owner did not want me using them, including the air conditioner. I was able to turn the air conditioner to high or low, but could not adjust the coolness (the knob was taken off.) I was simply interested in a night's sleep, which was why I chose the place.

Get what ya pay for

Smelled musty, peeling paint, small, minimal outlets near mirrors to get ready, poor parking near your actual room. Pills found in door way. Overall bed and shower was it. Towels were stained also

Quiet Country Atmosphere

The staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was walking distance from downtown Merrill. The sound of a rooster crowing in the morning from the farm across the street was so cool too. I loved the Prairie Motel.
