Pretty good but a bit cramped
The room was really quite small to the point where it was a bit cramped and didn't have many facilities, quite basic, no fridge etc, other than that pretty good, well located, the pub is nice and the people are friendly, generally it was okay and fair value for money
The rooms on the property are tiny, they look bigger in the pictures! The rooms are dated & dirty. I'm not sure we were actually clean after getting showered. The floor was gritty under foot and there were other people's hair all over the bathroom floor.
There were a lot of mixed messages as well. When booking its advised that you can check in from 3 but check in forms we received implied you can't check in before 5. Breakfast was another mix of messages with staff not being clear either. Signage in the room states it's from 11am but staff say it's from 10am. It's also not clear how some of the guests who were staying had it included but others didn't. Again this was confusing.
We stayed for an event there, and were charged different prices every time for the same drinks ranging from £11.20 to £15.65.
It was overpriced for what little basics you get in the room. Paint was chipped, furniture was scuffed, the bathroom door didn't fit the frame or close properly and the main light switch didn't work.
If you wanted use of a hairdryer or iron you had to request it from the pub during their open hours. I don't understand why these aren't just provided as standard when you're paying such a premium for the room.
It's 2 stars purely for how dog friendly they are & the car park was good sized.
Excellent Pub / hotel. Small room but exactly what was needed for the stay. Great food amazing breakfast and excellent service.

Positives...Nice looking place. Half hour from Silverstone. Didn't eat or drink here, so cannot comment. Good parking. Staff seemed ok for the little time we spent with them.
Negatives.. No lock on bathroom door. Bathroom door didn't shut properly. Paint peeling off wall and ceiling. Very uncomfortable bed. Tiny room but at £36/night, you don't expect the Ritz.

Down side was that we arrived back on Sunday evening having eaten elsewhere, as we had been told they did not do food Sunday evening hoping to have a drink only to find the pub was closed.
We had not been made aware of this
We only stopped for one night , but the staff couldnt be more helpfull and polite , we had breakfast, which was good and all you good eat ,have no problem recommending the dukes
The friendly greeting was lovely. We stayed for one night and were going out in Milton Keynes and Sarah organised a taxi for us. Our room was small but had everything we needed including tea and coffee making facilities and large shower. In the morning my continental breakfast was brought to my room and consisted of cereal ,ham , 2 types of cheese , pickle, bread, butter jam, marmalade and fruit.
This is a gem of a place in a pretty village.
Thank you for the lovely stay, if in the area we will stay again

Middle of the road review
The room was very small and the bed was very low to the ground. Also, the room not very accessible for mobility challenged folk. It was clean and in the main, the staff were helpful although I did request a hairdryer and was told it was available but was not forthcoming.
Poor cleanliness - cocktail sausage under bed - filthy bin in bathroom - no liner.
Room set up for one so had to share bath towel & request extra mug for tea.
Room was extremely tiny for the two if us & a Labrador. (We had requested room for two & a labrador)
Really poor value for money.
Staff very helpful though & food & wine in pub lovely.
I stayed here once, whilst working locally, as I used to travel to Luton for a decent stop over. This place is spot on tbh, customer service is great by the lovely girls that work there and the food is perfect and at decent prices too. The rooms are clean and up together with plenty of coffee and tea/milk. I personally always upgrade to the room 5 with a sofa bed for the extra few pounds as it makes a difference being able to sit on a sofa doing admin work / watch tv. Saying this I found no problem with the other rooms at all. Would highly recommend and will return without a doubt.
