Very interesting place for a hotelbto be located. Loads of history as the site of a very old Catholic Church and Priesthood school and learning centre. Also has its own brewery and vine yard. Great location for walking into Kerkrade centre.
Very unique stay in an old abbey - the room was very simple, had just a sink - toilet and shower was shared. The bed was small but comfortable- for me it was the perfect stay as I just needed a simple, clean place to stay at.
Love the history and ambiance of the buildings and site. The rooms are minimalistic but nice and quiet. A relaxing place to stay. Staff is friendly and professional.

Basic hotel, to be expected from an ancient monastery. Very clean, great breakfast but horrible parking as we literally had to park a Km away. Very quiet and historic.
Beautiful place, old monestry. Quiet, friendly staff, well designed rooms. Showers the best. Only beds bit soft matress. And when wanting to eat you can eat there, but expensive (although delicious), otherwise car or bike needed to go to other restaurant

Don't expect any kind of luxury or comfort at this hotel/abbey. The place just felt very austere on the inside compared to the amazing surroundings and feel on the outside. We ended up leaving after the first night as it was not for us. Breakfast was quite expensive for what was on offer.
The one good thing was proximity to the town center which had a good variety of bars and good restaurants.
I am sure this place is fantastic for some due to its historical interest and being a UNESCO heritage site.

Understand the context and you will enjoy it.
My room was cold and austere. I read some reviews that complained about this. Of course, that is the historic setting for this hotel. It was a Catholic seminary and boarding school. So cold and austere is what it was supposed to be. If you were looking for room service and a full spa, this will not be the place for you. With that said, the bed was comfortable. My room was clean. The staff was friendly. The surroundings were lovely. And there is a mystique about staying in a historic building like this. So in this case, cold and austere, created a very warm experience. I would totally stay there again.
The place looks nice from the outside, but the inside was disappointing. The bathrooms were not clean, the beds were noisy and uncomfortable, and sounds from other rooms were very noticeable. There was also a strange odor, which was another drawback. Overall, the castle-like appearance and free parking were the only real advantages.
There were bugs in the room and the towels were not very clean.
They don't specify it clearly but rooms do not have private bathrooms.
The beds are a bit too squishy
The historical aspect of this property is unique. This former abbey allows for a relaxing stay and it is an experience to wander through a complex with so much history. The rooms are simple but clean and quiet. The staff could not be more friendly and customer oriented. Highly recommendable!
The hotel and the room was as expected but I have never met more rude and unprofessional staff. The restaurant was an absolute disaster - both food and drinks. The food was extremely boring and tasteless (our meat was more alive than cocked) - and the waiter was hoping to work somewhere else. We were also charged for things we never got (which could not be repaid).
If you go to this place, do not visit the restaurant - neither for drinks nor food.
