Cool historical hotel in central location. Recommend the courtyard/ non city view rooms because it is centrally located and the road is busy. We stayed for one night and it was perfect to see what we wanted to see in kandy.
They upgraded us to a suite facing the lake, allowed us early checkin. Comfortable, good hotel. Easy acceas ro the temple and Cultural dance center and restaurants.

Really nice stay at the queens hotel. Great location. Staff amazing. Slightly dated. But that was part of its charm.

Victorian Experience
A truely Victorian experience. The hotel has kept all its original charm while adding modern luxuries where needed.
The staff were amazing and on hand for everything and anything from reception and security to waiters and chefs. The pool attendant and gardener were also excellent

Beautiful old hotel with great staff! Restaurant provided buffet meals at a reasonable price.
They went above and beyond to assist me with all my needs. If you’re traveling in the area, I cannot recommend this hotel enough! The staff is incredibly warm and accommodating, making your stay truly enjoyable. Everything about my experience was exceptional.
You must read-up on what to expect at the queen’s hotel. It may or may not be for you. It feels like stepping back in time. The place is a little shabby in places but if you want to have that feeling of living a bit of history it delivers. It’s an excellent location and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The pool offers a break from the noise of town and just generally- bring your ear plugs! We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing location
Old historic hotel. Amazing location.
Serviceminded staff.
Downside; too many big tour groups use this hotel, so not so cosy, when you come as the only ones not part of a large group
Convenient location. Just close to all main attraction and restaurants, such as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Kandy lake.
The hotel itself looks elegant and the maintenance is quite good. I especially enjoy the life that you can feel the living history of the hotel. It is also conformable to stay in the room. Good choice or stay here of you visit Kandy.

Charming but in need of renovation
We like the charm of old colonial hotels and would recommend it because of the great location but you should no that a lot of things don't always work. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I saw the one room that has been renovated and it aas very nice with modern bathroom and still the room with colonial style.
Good for business because of WIFI condition.
LIght control at the bed side is very convenient

Lovely historic hotel, yet sadly long overdue for a major renovation. Upgraded to a suite (thank-you), yet broken air conditioner that staff tried to fix with a broomstick/leaking ceilings in various rooms (dangerous on floorboards)/light bulbs broken & not replaced/dangerous electrical PowerPoints/shower mechanism broken & fell
Off & hot water tap itself overheats & liable to burn. In a positive, bed & pillows comfortable, pool fantastic & staff very helpful. Particularly the Manager/CEO Mr Kumar.

Great surroundings. Lots of history. Unfriendly staff. The safely box didn't work ( somebody had taken the batteries). Nothing was done although I staff different staff members at least five times.

Keep your sense of humour and you'll get through the half to one hour check in process and you'll start to enjoy this quirky, totally inefficient hotel in the perfect location opposite the Temple of the Tooth.
It's unapologetically rundown - but if you love heritage hotels you'll love this place.
It has a nice restaurant with really lovely staff.
It's the reception staff that desperately need training in how to deal with customers. We had zero explanation of why we were kept waiting for over half an hour. Very poor communication and generally inept.
But again, get through the check in process and you'll be in heritage bliss - well, maybe not 'bliss' but you'll probably love the place anyway.
It was a pleasant stay at The Queens Hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The position is perfect for visiting the Temple, overlooking the lake in Kandy but the traffic noise is incredible. Yes you are right in the heart of the city so not unexpected but trying to sleep is not easy. Room was clean and adequate and probably once was quite something but now old fashioned and very basic. There are no frills, no luxury and although our bathroom had a bath it was impossible to use it as took too long to fill it! Buffet breakfast was ok, basic and our least favourite in Sri Lanka - perhaps we have been spoilt everywhere else. In summary one night was enough for us.

Our stay was wonderful, we were lucky enough to have one of the newly renovated rooms at the hotel. The hotel staff were very polite and accommodating and the hotel is very centrally located - easy walk to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, eateries and shops.
The staff is very friendly and professional, upgraded our room and allowed us to check in early. The room is so beautiful and high-end. Location is super convenient, short walk to the tooth temple, at lake with beautiful views, surrounded by shopping stores.
There was loudly construction sounds around 2pm, that disturbed the sleep.
Excelent charming old colonial hotel. A bit old, but it makes up for it with tonns of charm, and very friendly and helpfull staff. Would definently recommend.

Very central. Very close to main attraction daladaha maligawa.
If you like historic hotels this is for you. In a perfect location by the lake and opposite the Temple of the Tooth.
The interior takes you right back to the 19th Century with its wooden floors and antique bar. The dinning room is old fashioned with a good mix of western and Sri Lankan food. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Everything about this hotel is the opposite of a modern bland corporate hotel. Staying here is an experience.
The hotel is desperately in need of a complete overhaul - my room was riddled with damp and mould with ineffective air conditioning. The staff are lovely and are the hotel's only saving grace.

Very tired and run down building and rooms. The bar was ok and the staff were friendly but I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone that I liked.
