It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Lovely home, a friendly and gracious host family, and the room and en suite bathroom was excellently prepared and clean. The room had balcony with a lovely view.

Great experience

We really enjoyed this home stay. The place was very clean. The family was super helpful. Location was in a nice area on a hill with very pleasant views from the balcony. It was only a short tuk tuk or cab ride to town - in fact we walked down the hill each day as the views were great. We enjoyed the food and the hospitality. The hosts helped us with our questions and we highly recommend Bethel to anyone wanting a homestay.

Very welcoming hosts and beautiful huge apartment. Room was pretty good! I had the left corner room with a balcony with an awesome view. Some droppings and insects from time to time but i understand the area. Perfect location if you don't mind a 20min hike uphill. (:

Vor Buchung genau nachfragen wo man schläft !

Das Homestay liegt oberhalb von Kandy, mit dem Tuk-Tuk 300 Rupien. Bei Ankunft wurden wir nett empfangen, allerdings unterbreitete man uns, dass man nur ein Zimmer in einem "anderen Gebäude" frei hätte. Es hätten sich zwei Buchungen überschnitten. Beim Frühstück am nächsten Tag haben wir allerdings mitbekommen, dass sich dieser "Zufall" bei anderen Gästen wiederholt hat. Wir wurden dann in einem Hotel (Hantana) untergebracht, wo derzeit eine Baustelle ist. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren sehr klein und Sauberkeit na ja, ausreichend… Positiv war eine Gruppe Affen, die auf der Dachterrasse vorbeischaut. Wir wollten ein Abendessen in der Unterkunft einnehmen, da meine Tochter sehr müde war. Man hat uns aber höflich darauf verwiesen, dass es in der Stadt viel bessere Restaurants gebe. Ab 8.00 Uhr morgens wurde lautstark gearbeitet. Wir haben dies den Gastgebern beim (guten) Frühstück im Gästehaus mitgeteilt, interessiert hat es sie wohl nicht. Die landestypische Herzlichkeit schien mir hier sehr gespielt, man ist nur reinen Geldverdienen interessiert. Im Haus lebt auch ein freundlicher, sehr aufdringlicher Hund. Also nichts für Leute mit Allergie o.ä. Denn obwohl unsere Tochter Angst hatte, hat man das Tier, welches uns permanent angesprungen und abgeleckt hat, gewähren lassen. Die hier angebotenen Zimmer, die wir kurz gesehen haben, schienen gut zu sein. Man sollte bei Buchung aber nachfragen, wo man untergebracht wird. Unsere Bilder zeigen das Hotel, welches wir nicht empfehlen

Wonderful homestay

Lovely family who welcomed us and went out of their way to make our holiday special, including allowing us to attend to their daughters school Christmas carol service. The breakfast and dinner were delicious home cooking, thank you Delini and Rasika. Our room was comfortable, but the private balcony with a great view of Kandy was nice the perfect place to relax and soak up the local atmosphere. Walking distance from town, but incredibly peaceful location. Definitely recommend this as a place to stay for couples, families or small groups.

A restful rest

Bethel rest is a home stay run by a lovely family of five. The rooms are comfortable and cost. It is a 15minute walk from the Kandy railway station which is very good.

fijne homestay, super gastvrij en service.

fijn en mooi ingericht huis met bijzonder gastvrije en hulpvaardige gastdame en gastheer. bijzonder was dat onze dochter van 11 bij het gezin kon blijven terwijl wij de stad ingingen en zich ook goed thuis voelde. diner en ontbijt ook erg goed. enige opmerking is dat in de omschrijving niet duidelijk is dat we een gedeelde badkamer hadden.
