I give this establishment a 5 star rating. Wonderful staff, management, cleanliness, great location to explore halifax. And great prices!! I absolutely recommend this location.
The room we stayed in (# 6 Aft Castle)was smaller than I expected but it was clean and comfortable and was more than suitable for a one night stay in the city. Parking was convenient and we were within walking distance to restaurants/ downtown. We were minutes from our appointment and the owners were accessible and responsive. We are going to try another room with our next stay coming up shortly. It was reasonably priced and a great alternative to a hotel.
Overall an ok stay. Super clean and charming, unbeatable location. Some details could make the experience 5 star. All doors are very squeaky, which was disruptive in the middle of the night. There is virtually no sound barrier between the room and hallway, so it feels like you can hear other people breathing through the walls. The bed was VERY low to the ground and mattress felt cheap and dated. A few improved details would really make this place a hidden gem.
Fantastic stay at the Red George Inn in their Aft Castle room. Cozy and full of character and complementing the historic charm of the property. It truly feels like stepping into a piece of local heritage while still enjoying all the comforts you need. Communication from the host was excellent from start to finish—clear, friendly, and helpful. A beautiful, thoughtfully run place in an unbeatable location. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
A wonderful stay at the Red George Inn! The location is unbeatable—right near all the best restaurants and the waterfront. The space is full of character and charm, and the self check-in was incredibly convenient for our late arrival after dinner. It felt great to stay somewhere that felt so local and 100% locally-owned. Excellent value for a quick trip, friendly service, and a truly welcoming place to call home for the night while in the city. Especially loved the exposed beams in the traditional dormer overlooking the lieutenant Governors mansion. Extra special for myself as my grandfather was once the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, so it was really cool to stay in a room overlooking his former residence. Highly recommend!

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Room was relatively small. Bathroom was clean and appealing except for some dust around the mirror casing. Rug in room appeared relatively clean except for some dirt around the door entry. Mouse traps were probably necessary but a bit unnerving! Self check in and check out was a surprise. Cold night so room was cold upon arrival and took some time to heat up especially the furniture. Pros: downtown location, free parking, microwave, kettle, drip coffee maker, toaster, glasses and cups in the room. I would give it a 3.5 rating if I could.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, but this experience truly set a new bar.
Space: The room was modern, clean, and very spacious. Larger than most city hotels I’ve stayed in.
The room felt more like a modern condo than a standard hotel room.
Location: It is extremely central and just a short, easy walk to both the train/bus stations and the downtown core.
Check-in: The self-check-in instructions were detailed and made the arrival completely stress-free.
Amenities: The bed was incredibly comfortable. The plentiful small appliances and a surprise of snacks that was such a thoughtful touch.
Service That Goes Above and Beyond:
The staff here are the real stars. They are genuinely friendly and went out of their way to ensure I was happy, taking the time to ask and listen to my feedback with a level of care you don't see often.
I actually left a pair of pants behind after checking out. Most places would just toss them, but the staff took the initiative to call me immediately to let me know. That kind of integrity and attention to detail is hard to find!
I highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in Halifax.
This property was clean, had all the amenities we needed and was in an absolutely fantastic location. The value for money was excellent.
Highly recommended.
Lovely spot if you don't need accessible features like a ramp. Parking was difficult to find the overflow lot. Needs better signage. Otherwise absolutely lovely and close to everything we needed.
