Disappointing stay of three nights

Disappointing, am aware of difficulties your industry are having , but complete absence of staff apart from behind desk , glasses and dirty food trays left in corridor for hours room not fully cleaned .

We had 50 minutes wait for our room after the check in time, eventually got our key to the room after it had been cleaned, I say that loosely as there was sick down the side of the bed and Pooh floating in the toilet. We did speak with the manager who apologised and said he would make sure it was cleaned while we were out and as a good will gesture would leave a bottle of wine for us. Which we got just before midnight when promised at half ten. To top our stay off the fire alarms woke everyone up around half four in the morning, so not much sleep. £140 a night what a joke

Dreadful experience and never again. The room we checked into had not been serviced from the previous guest. Bar service was slow, restaurant was closed although bar food could be ordered. We waited 35 mins for our starter which consisted of 3 chicken wings for just short of £6. Main dish arrived after one hour. Other diners waited over an hour for theirs and complained about the standard of poor quality food. I went into the kitchen to complain about the delay but no one was there and no evidence food was being cooked on site. It was probably being ordered in hence the delay. The following morning the fire alarm went off. The shower emitted water which was too hot to wash in and the controls didn’t work to reduce the temperature. Hopefully Expedia will remove this hotel from the recommended list.

Nice place, I didn't use spa facilities but I imagine it would make this place more enjoyable to stay. Overall it's a nice place to rest your head for a night or two.

The room was comfortable to sleep in. Breakfast was good and well laid out. The property was dated inside. The bathroom lacked basic items such as tissues and shower gels. The bath plug hole had hair in it. The shower controls did not work correctly, therefore it was hard to get hot water as the cold water pressure was much higher than the hot water pressure.

Poor evening service and food

Wasnt expecting to stay near Grantham overnight but we had to and booked in this hotel. All not too bad pleased with room. We went to restaurant for evening meal. Tablenext to us told us they hsd senttheir meals back as fish was cold and like rubber. We were very hungry and waited 1hr for main courses we were just summoning someone to say we were off and not waiting anymore but ourmeal arrived. Themeal was luke warm husband steak 19 pounds looked like a rib. My meal advertised as traditional fish and chips (it wasnt) like rubber a d batter soft not crispy my daughters portion of tikka masala was bordering on ridiculous. We ate it as we were not waiting again for more food only good thing chips were nice. When i was asked if all ok i told the so called manager straight what they charging i was not paying full price and i didnt. Manycomplained that night hopefully its a one off but very poor in the evening restaurant however breakfast much better no complaint there. Some very pleasant staff.

Dated, and in need of refurb. Staff friendly and helpful. Food isn't great. Probably wouldn't stay here again unless I had to. TV blew up in my room and they were unable to replace. Shower was covered in limescale and walls mouldy.

The car park is really tight and many cars seem to struggle to park within bays which in turn leads to limited parking for when the hotel is busy. Check-in was a simple and straightforward process. The room was a king and had plenty of space but was looking very old and tired. The bathroom was exceptionally old and the engrained dirt showed this. There was a lot of hair in the bath plug hole which was broken. The bed was clean, large and very comfortable. The walls are paper thin. Although the bar and music stopped not long after 11pm the general noise continued until around midnight with conversations and people running along corridors all easily audible in my room. I was then awoken just before 6am by similar noises which persisted until I left for work at 10:45am. Tea and coffee available in the room. Breakfast had a good variety but was very basic. Had to wait to be served hot food as no one manning the counter and was told it wasn’t self service. By the time the toaster had cooked the toast the main breakfast was cold so I’d advise you don’t have the two together due to the wait for both. Checked out without issue. Greeted by numerous piles of vomit in the car park which hadn’t been there the night before. As I was staying over due to travelling for work in the local area for the weekend I wouldn’t stay again and unless you just need somewhere basic to stay after a late night party etc I wouldn’t recommend either.

Super attentive and helpful staff but disappointing as we'd booked the hotel for the pool and even sent a query about its availability but got no reply and the pool was closed. Very clean, food very basic and average and a bit expensive.

Hotel in need of modernisation

Hotel in General needs modernisation. Main positive is the staff who were excellent, very helpful as much as they could. We only got ONE pillow each on our bed and when we asked at reception for another, we were told they had run out !!! We had to use a bath towel as a 2nd pillow !!! Breakfast was fairly limited but adequate, and again the staff were friendly and helpful, however half of the yogurts on offer were a week past sell by date !!! I told the lady behind the counter and she quickly removed them !!!! I feel that we are due a partial refund or goodwill gesture as we really didn’t sleep well

Dreadful!

Wasn’t clean, therefore didn’t use the shower. There were at least 5 moths on the ceiling. One tea bag had been left for the entire 1 night stay. There was a function on at the hotel which resulted in people running up & down the corridor until at least 3am ….. dreadful behaviour! Thought this was 4 star more like 2, very disappointing

The room was very outdated. No fan or air-conditioning in room. Lights were very dim. Pillows were very uncomfortable. Shower was either hot or cold, no in-between. Mattress topper came off bed when asleep. Maid rushed us out of room at 11:50 while packing bags to leave

What a shame

Firstly complements to the people who were all great and very welcoming but the place really lets them down. It’s just old and run down, the bath was dirty, sheets had marks on the them and the spoons in the room were dirty not to mention 2 cups for a family room for 4 people doesn’t add up. Food is very very poor so make sure you’ve had a few drinks before touching it and that won’t even help you at breakfast

Josh on reception would benefit if some OJT he failed to mention availability of WI-FI, the need to book your vehicle in and told us Breakfast was from 0800. Chris? the Barman was attentive and professional. Whilst reasonably comfortable the hotel could do with a make over as it is looking rather aged. However for a one night stay it was value for money.

needed sprucing up

The stay was ok, we only had one night there this time but we had a couple of issues that were reported to reception on the evening of check in and again the following morning but understood the problem could not have been resolved during our stay. The inside bar area was tired and the outside areas, both the enclosed garden and the car park areas were unkempt and really do need to be tidied up considerably. The car park was in poor condition and with weeds popping up all over it certainly didn't offer a good first impression.
