The room is old, sound block is very poor that can hear clearly the room next to it. and breakfast is not tasty for 5star hotel consideration. Only grateful for the swimming pool area is comfortable with cover & laying bed.

Lovely hotel, great staff, definitely worth getting a room with a view of the pool/sea. Close to hawker market for food options. Need to take bus to go into George Town however, but bus stop is right outside the hotel so pretty convenient.

Reasonable but tired.

The Golden Sands is getting very tired. I have stayed there before many years ago and there had been little done to the property. The grounds are lovely but the beach has suffered greatly with much of the foreshore being washed away compared to25-20 years ago. Given the cost I was hoping for more.

Couples vacation

We stayed at the golden sands by shangri-la in penang 5th to 8th of july. We had a beach /pool facing room which i would strongly recommend. Rooms are spacious and clean, buffet breakfast had a wide variety of food, plenty of pool activities and areas of entertainment for kids,I would highly recommend this hotel to any type of visitor

Disappointing stay

Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was disappointing and place to eat was dirty. There was little to no service from staff and no cutlery on tables. When we complained through the QR code on the tables we heard nothing back.
