  • The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone offers different dramatic looks and moods dependent on the time of day. The falls are luminous in the morning. In the evening when this photo was taken, the canyon takes on a soft, almost painterly light. If you can, make a visit right after sunrise and return for the sunset.

  • We visited this location but ideally needed to be there in the afternoon as the sun was on the "wrong" side of the arch. I used a wide lens to capture the arch and didn't attempt to correct the distortion as I felt it added to the picture (for me anyway). It took a long time to get this without hoardes of people in the shot.

The property is so nicely maintained, and the room was PERFECT! Incredibly clean, decorated well, comfy beds, and so close to Yellowstone's entrance and dining options. Would absolutely stay again!

Great location and nice!

Our "cabin" at 406 Lodge was in great shape, very clean, has a nice deck overlooking the Yellowstone River below. Walked to restaurants. Would stay again!

Best place in Gardiner!

We were able to stay in both the River Lodge, and one of the hotel rooms because we were having such a good time we extended our stay. Both accommodations were great and the team running the place is so easy to work with. If we ever come back, this is where we would definitely want to stay!

A hidden gem for Gardiner! Very well appointed and tastefully decorated room. Such a far cry from the overpriced and dated lodges run by Xanterra within the Yellowstone Park.

We loved our stay at the 406 lodge. We stayed in river cabin #2. The cabin was so cute and in great condition. The view of the Yellowstone River was beautiful. Would highly recommend! Only a few minutes from park north gate.

Great accommodations for two couples or small family. Everything in the small town of Gardiner is within walking distance if you choose. People are very friendly. We had a great time on the upper Loop of Yellowstone national park.
