Seabury Lookout – Classic Kiwi Bach with Views suitable for all ages and stages!
Welcome to Seabury Lookout – your cosy coastal getaway!
Once the original Postmaster’s house, our bach blends history with comfort. Perched high on the hill, you’ll love sipping your morning coffee (or evening wine) on either side of the bach with views to the world renowned estuary, and the mighty Tararua Ranges or the sunny deck while taking in views of farmland and the settlement.
Inside, it’s classic Kiwi holiday living. The main lounge has plenty of seating and a roaring fire for winter evenings, while the separate kids’ lounge with additional TV keeps little ones entertained. Bedrooms are simple, restful spaces and the bathroom is spacious with a bath/shower and separate loo. We’ve stocked up on puzzles, board games, and the latest NZ House & Garden mags for those slower holiday moments. Positioned close to the amazing Mewington's Bookshop in Foxton, and indulge in a veritable wonderland of bookish delights Half the home now has double glazing, making it extra snug on cooler nights to rug up and read.
The deck is a favourite hangout — with built-in picnic seating, an umbrella for shade, and gates to keep kids safe. When the sun sets, the village lights sparkle and the night sky fills with stars.
Adventure is right on your doorstep!
5 minutes to Mr Grumpy’s for legendary fish & chips 🍟
A short stroll to the beach for swimming, fishing, or white baiting (in season). An even closer walk to the worldclass estuary a few minutes walk away.
Watch the kids at the amazing nearby playground (think skate ramps, flying fox, tennis courts, basketball hoops, and more) — some visible from the lounge and bedrooms!
Walk or cycle into historic Foxton to explore its working windmill, quirky museum, murals, a fantastic Mewington's bookstore, a range of cute shops to explore and a choice of fabulous cafés and the famous Lewis Farms Strawberry and Asparagus Farm.
Tee off at Foxton Golf Club, try wakeboarding at Off the Loop, or head to local markets, and events. There's something for everyone in the Horowhenua summer and winter!
Whether you’re after a family-friendly base, a cosy couples’ escape, or a laid-back group getaway, Seabury Lookout has been delighting guests for many years. Your Kiwi holiday awaits! 🌊✨

It was a good stay owners seems friendly and the house was quite warm and cozy but i did not like that a white tail that bit my leg in the bed but i guess its just a spider not tooo bad it was close to the park and beach which was really great my son enjoyd it so much would happily go stay there again
Lovely place to stay with elevated outlook and good views. Well stocked with appliances and essentials. Liked the proximity to the tennis courts and the park. Handy location with good parking at the top and secure. No wifi. Narrow driveway. Would prefer not to bring own linen and do cleaning for lesser surcharge. Overall great play to stay.
Very nice beach property. Well equiped with everything you could need. Good access to walks, river and beach. My only quibble would be the requirement to provide your own linen and doing the cleaning. It’s not really appropriate when you are paying a commercial rent.
A wonderful holoday house, a great stay pre-christmas before the holiday buzz took off.
Dianne and Riley were great hosts and prompt with their responses back to our inquiries.
Their Foxten Beach home was a lovely and relaxing place to unwind and forget the city life. Playground close by for our little 4 year old including tennis and netball courts and a flying fox, bonus! Lovely natural nature reserves close by and the beach very accessible. A lovely walk there over sand dunes for kids.
Cafes and local shops close by were good to get brunch or a coffee after a nice walk along the beach.
Highly reccimend staying there.
Our brief stay was great! Easy and early communications with the owners meant no last minute fluffing. We are a family of 4 and wach kid got a room and their own bed. Warm and dry.. easy to get into late at night.

We had a great relaxing time and the owner was very helpful. The elevated position of the house gave a good view of the estuary and surrounding area. A great place to come to if you're in to bird-watching.
