A hidden treasure at half the price

We could not have been more pleased. It was quintessential Morocco. We were greeted in such a manner. The Riad was exactly what I dreamed of. I walked in and actually cried. It took me 40 years to get there and what a pleasure. The hosts were so accommodating. It was just inside the medina exactly where we wanted to be. Just to note, one cannot manoeuvre the medina without a guide. The hosts will arrange that service for you.

Um Riad fabuloso dentro da Medina de Fez

O Riad Sara fica próximo à porta principal da Medina de Fez. É uma antiga casa de família, belamente decorada e bem conservada, que agora serve para hospedagem de turistas. Não se assuste com o aspecto externo, pois nas casas do Marrocos é dada maior importância para a beleza interior. Não há TV, frigobar nem telefone no quarto. Há uma boa cobertura de Wi-Fi. O café da manhã segue o padrão continental, sem grandes exageros. Peça à gerência que reserve um transfer para a sua chegada (custo de 120 MAD do aeroporto), pois é relativamente difícil encontrar o Riad por conta própria.

Beautiful riad in Fes, Morocco.

Riad sara in Fes is a very pretty and beautiful riad. We stayed here for 4 nights in 3rd week of March 2017. The riad is just under 5 mins walk to the nearest water fountain square - Batha square and just under 10 mins to the famous Fes medina. You don't need to worry about taxis as the Petit taxi rank is just in the fountain square so you can get to any place easily even with the luggage. I recommend using the Petit taxi to go around, to the train station and to the Airport. They are cheap, efficient and plenty. If you order taxi from riad they arrange black private taxis and they are expensive. You don't need to worry about using Petit taxi, just use Petit. That's what we did. As our flight was night arrival and this is our first trip to Morocco, we booked taxi with this riad from the Airport. They were spot on and the driver was simply waiting though the flight was delayed. Once reached the riad, the host was just saw us in the front of the door and welcomed us, helped our luggage and shown our room. The host is very very friendly, just simply awesome and great place to stay here. The breakfast is plenty and the mint tea is amazing. The interior of the room and courtyard are just as it is shown on the photos. You don't need to worry, you will get satisfied with this. As we have planned our excursions outside of Fes and above, we didn't use their travel agent. However he helped us to see the famous fes medina. He gave us a map and shown us the points and factors.

El Riad Sara es bonito y mi suite preciosa,pero no funcionaba el aire acondicionado y la limpieza dejaba mucho que desear, así como el estado de lamparas, muebles y cortinas,no pongo fotos porque se ve todo en mejor estado

Traditionelles Riad in der Medina

Das Riad ist ein traditionelles, sehr altes Hotel am Rand der Medina. Wunderschön anzusehen, besonders die Mosaiks und die Holzarbeiten sind traumhaft. Leider ist auch das Mobiliar in dem Hotel alt und kaputt und müsste ersetzt werden. Besonders das schmutzige, heruntergekommene Badezimmer war ein Problem. Am ersten Morgen haben wir dort sogar eine Kakerlake gefunden. Das sehr zuvorkommende und freundliche Personal hat uns daraufhin einen Zimmerwechsel angeboten, was allerdings keine Verbesserung brachte. Natürlich darf man, besonders in der Altstadt, nicht mit europäischen Standards rechnen, aber grundlegende Hygiene und fließend warmes Wasser erwarte ich trotzdem. Wir sind daraufhin in die Hammams der Stadt ausgewichen. Ansonsten ist das Frühstück lecker und das Personal sehr nett. TV gibt es nicht. Klimaanlage hat funktioniert. Und im Innenhof gab es Tee und Wasser umsonst, auch zum mitnehmen.

Es un Riad tradicional y muy bonito en cuanto a artesanía, etc. aunque necesita reformas. Personal muy amable. El televisor en la habitación que aparece en la descripción no existe, al menos era así en mi caso.

tout plaisir se mérite. une fois maîtrisé l'étonnement que procure un environnement "typique" et pour le moins surprenant mais qui vous apprivoise très vite; une fois la porte refermée sur l'activité impressionnante des rues... et leur mauvais entretien, c'est un vrai coin de paradis qui vous accueille, sourire, attention, disponibilité du personnel, qualité des lieux , décor, fraicheur, abondance et qualité des repas, petit déjeuner d'abord. Merci de ce très agréable et très dépaysant séjour.

Beautiful Riad

I stayed at Riad Sara with my 2 stisters for 2 nights in December and we were all so happy to be staying in such a wonderful place. It is a palace and wherever you look you will be stunned by the details of the decor. The staff are all very kind and helpful, breakfast is delicious and the location of the Riad perfect. I will definetely go there again next time I go to Fez!
