We were very pleased with the staff and the amazing service they provided, especially Abel; he is truly an amazing asset to this property. Great location, views and close to Corcovado National Park & Caño Island (only a boat ride away). Our room was not up to par and we were advised that it will undergo renovation soon - It needs it!

The staff was very friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. They made using the boats to and from Sierpe quite easy as they answered all questions via whatsapp before we even arrived! We had breakfast and dinner at the restaraunt. Both meals were great! Overall had a great time. The ocean view was definitely a must!

I was at the last cabana on the ridge. It had a kitchen in an attached room. It was great to bring back leftovers, make coffee and enjoy local fruit. There were 2 beds, a king and queen. The shower was walk in and everything worked well and was very clean. I ate at the table on the patio, enjoyed the hammock, and entertained by a multitude of birds, ant eater and ajouti. I would definitely come back.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive. Abel was very helpful with all of our requests. Be prepared for stairs! But the balcony and view was great! Location is close to everything in Drake Bay. It’s rustic, but comfortable. We thought it was a great place and we had everything we needed

Great stay

We had a one room cottage with two beds for us and our eight year old. Yes, there are steps, but Abel and his team help with the bags and you don’t get the great ocean view without going up a bit! Lovely stay, thank you - room had a fridge, hot water, brilliant view and comfortable beds. Breakfast was lovely too. Thank you Abel!

Enjoyed our stay. We were given a new room, which was impeccably clean. Staff was very communicative, helpful. We had no hot water the first night, although they tried to fix it; so we expected some kind of gesture as a result. It was all fixed the next day, thankfully. Very good for kids with a bunk bed.

Great place to stay

Very fun stay at Cotingas, despite the tours we had booked being cancelled because of excessive rain. Needless to say, that was no fault of the hotel but it did mean we spent more time there and realized what a great place it was. Excellent location right next to the town but still quiet; lots of animal sightings, a great view--albeit mostly of rain on this occasion--and very good service from the excellent staff. We want to go back to Drake Bay and do what we could not this time--and when we do we will certainly stay here again.

The views

Most stunning views ever. Hotel is right off the beach but with steep stairs up. We were met by staff right off the boat. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good as well. Only minor point is that the bed and bedding could do with an upgrade. Blankets could been fresher and mattress cleaner and more comfortable. Overall an amazing stay, would highly recommend going here as the views and welcoming atmosphere were phenomenal.

I have a love/hate relationship with this property. The property itself is surrounded by lush greenery with a beautiful view of Drake Bay. We were assigned a room next to checkin and dining area. The room was clean, had a comfortable bed, lots of windows for light and view. A fairly nice room. The problem is, it was like living in a fishbowl. You had no privacy so you had to keep the curtains drawn at all times. At night, the lights from the hotel came through your windows while you were trying to sleep, (curtains were not thick) until they turned most of them off late in the evening. You are then woken at 4 o’clock in the morning when the lights came back on for staff to start their day. We asked to be moved to a different room, we would even pay for an upgrade and we’re denied multiple times. All the serving/cleaning staff were exceptional! And if you have not read about the stairs yet.. let me just say, if you have any problems with stairs, this place is not for you.

Cotingas was a really great spot to stay! The ocean view room had a wonderful view and hamac to enjoy the sunset. It is very central, you can go down to the beach and boat taxis in a few minutes (down 110 stairs). The only negative point for us was that we had hot water only the first night, the next 2 nights were only cold water in the shower. The host was very helpful otherwise and booked a night tour for us with David, who was super knowledgeable and took us around Drake at night to see snakes, spiders and lots of different insects and plants. Definitely worth it to do the night tour in Drake!

Amazing location with gorgeous views of Drake Bay. The hotel is very basic but has everything you need with accommodating and available staff, and the best pancakes that my 4 year old could not get enough of.

This is a wonderful place with a wonderful room and amazing view in the middle of the town. However it is important to know that the only way to access the hotel is through a steep staircase with about 50 steps.

Cotingas was an excellent stay, when you get off the boat someone will meet you. Abel helped up check in and gave us all the information on our tours. We did the snorkeling at cano island and jungle night walk. Both were amazing. But I LOVED the night walk. The guides for the jungle night walk were very informative, friendly, and you could tell they are really passionate about the land.

This place is not for the faint of heart or even the mildly out of shape person. I go to the gym five days a week and my legs still were struggling with the stairs to get to our place. Unless you are diving or hiking there really is absolutely nothing to do here. It seems to be just a hub for excursions. The room itself was fantastic with amazing ocean views however the amount of dirt bikes that the locals have cancelled out any bit of serenity offered.

Mega Ausblick

Wir hatten zu dritt die Villa mit eigener Dachterrasse und Küche. Sie Aussicht war super, der Service auch. Insbesondere der Zimmerservice war toll, denn die Frau hat jedes Mal Handtuchtiere gefaltet, was unserer Tochter, die auf dem Sofa schlafen durfte, sehr gefallen hat. Leider hatte der Whirlpool kein warmes Wasser und es lief sehr langsam und schmutziges Wasser ein. Die Herd bestand nur aus einer Kochplatte.

Tres bien placé avec superbe vue

Tres bel endroit situé tout près de l'arrivee des bateaux avec un service parfait à l'écoute en restant discret et efficace. Le confort des chambres reste bien correcte. Il y a un escalier un peu raide pour acceder à la réception... c'est le prix à payer pour une vue époustouflante ! Je recommande.
