Cedar Springs Greenhouse
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Just minutes from town yet very natural, serene and private. The Blufftop Greenhouse is 6'x 10' and has electricity, lights, air conditioning & heat. The futon sofa converts to sleep 1-2 people, w/ an air mattress stowed beneath it for extra sleeping space if needed. Linens, pillow and 2 fleece blankets are provided. Coffee is included and set for service inside. The greenhouse sits on a deck with a small cafe table and 2 chairs, there are two reclining lawn chairs and a fire ring. One bundle of wood is included and more is available as well as 5 gallons of potable water per person and a few basics for cooking/dining. Right beside the greenhouse is a private outdoor shower and an outhouse is on-site as well. There is plenty of room for more people to bring smaller campers, trailers, or overland vehicles for additional people to camp, one level spot for a tent.
The site itself is wooded, with shade and sun, it sits on the rim of an old limestone quarry with impressive views of the quarry cliffs and the rolling greenways of Silvercrest Golf and Country Club. Like golf? You can walk down the trail and be there in a few minutes.
Throughout the property are a few hiking trails, with varying degrees of difficulty including a private 4 wheel drive historic road which has access to College Drive. Campers may use the quarry for fires and gatherings. There is a historic limestone house on the lower property which may be used for photo opportunities but can not be explored inside at this time. There is also a limestone creek bed which is rich with fossils and periodically offers up trail treasures such as antique bottlers and cans and square nails.
Campers must be 18 and over due to the possible dangers of a natural environment which contains high elevations, cliffs, falling rock and wildlife. There is only one site listed at this time so campers will pretty much have the place to themselves. Hosts are 500 feet from the site, on the other side of the woods so you'll have lots of privacy. Dogs welcome, please keep them close by you at all times.

What a cute and cozy little place! Very nicely appointed with many thoughtful touches. It was a very windy and cold night, which couldn't be helped, and the space heater struggled to keep up. We would highly recommend later spring, summer and early fall visits.
It was everything as described in the listing. Great location for a couple to get away and enjoy sometime together. The surrounding area made for some great exploring. The host is great at communicating and handled anything we had questions about very professionally.
This place is ah-mazing! I had the best weekend at the Blufftop Greenhouse! Communication was stellar, directions very clear, greenhouse is A-dorable with a capital A, the outdoor shower area is perfect, and the hot pot and space heater made the entire stay more enjoyable! I got my "camping fix" but yet so many comforts! Enjoyed exploring the quarry, trails, and creek bed, as well as sitting quietly overlooking the quarry with a hot cup of tea and listening to all the birds. I will definitely be back. Seriously--check this place out!
My husband and I arrived late to the greenhouse which was charmingly lit for us. We are only 5'6 and 5'9 and tried to share the futon, which was quite uncomfortable with the placement of support bars and didn't allow us to straighten our legs. There was an air mattress under the futon that I wish we would have utilized instead. The greenhouse was kept at a comfortable temperature with air conditioning or a heater. A mini bar cabinet was available to purchase wine, liquor shooters, or healthy breakfast bars and oatmeal. When utilizing the outhouse, it appeared and smelled as if it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. We were able to appreciate Mother Nature's views in a unique setting for 1 night and morning before venturing for hiking trails in the area. The host was incredibly helpful in suggesting which attractions the area had to offer as well as places to eat based on asking what was bringing my husband and I to the area. Very fast at responding too! I would have given this 5 stars if it had a more comfortable futon/bed. Overall I was happy with our stay, yet glad it was for 1 night.
a very pretty location and good host to work with. Enjoyed my stay for sure

It was a perfectly quiet retreat to recharge and enjoy star gazing and relaxing evening fire after the clouds and heat of the daily Nordic Fest events. Short distance drives to everything we needed.

We had an amazing, peaceful, and private stay—just what we wanted! The location was great and very close to everything decorah has to offer! The fall colors were beautiful and definitely showing off for us. We ended up using the air mattress to sleep on and that worked out really well for us as the back of the futon wasn’t very comfortable, but great for sitting! We were never able to find the trails that led down to the bottom of the Quarry, but that’s ok. We didn’t need to talk to the owners much but when we did they were very responsive! My only recommendation for improvement would be to have the portapoty cleaned out — it’s in desperate need, but we were camping at the end of the day and it didn’t ruin our tip. Overall we would definitely come back. It was the perfect weekend.
The greenhouse and set up is amazing. I didn’t realize how close the road below was and there was significant road noise in the evening and again in the early morning. Other than that, it was great!
Host was really kind, generous and communicative.
I would say this space is big enough for 1 person to sleep comfortably, not two. Structure is made of heavy plastic, not insulated. Because we were unprepared for the space, the host very graciously let us change our reservation from 2 nights to 1.
I will return sometime when it's warmer!
