  • Home of Freeman Walker, outstanding citizen of early Georgia. Born in Virginia in 1780, he came to Richmond County in his youth and studied law. Freeman Walker, in 1826, deeded 70 acres of land to the United States Government to be used as an arsenal-the site now of the Junior College of Augusta. He reserved one acre as a family burial ground, known as the Walker Cemetery. He was the father of Maj. Gen. W. H. T. Walker, CSA. Admitted to the bar in 1802, he followed a life of public service; City Attorney for three years and Mayor of Augusta 1817-19, being the first to hold the city´s chief executive office under the name of Mayor, and Brigade Inspector of Gen. Valentine Walker´s brigade in 1813. He represented Richmond County in both branches of the State Legislature and represented Georgia in the U. S. Senate. His speech on the Missouri Compromise attracted nation-wide attention. He died in 1827 and is buried in the Walker Cemetery.

The room was comfortable and clean.. The price is reasonable and definitely was a lifesaver due to us having to leave a hotel due to cleanliness.

The surrounding area is not great and I don’t like that the access door to the room is exterior. Guests above us were not overly loud but I could still hear them walking around. Room was clean and check in easy and friendly. There was a free breakfast - donuts, bagels coffee.

Room was good. Breakfast was not. No juice and a quick grab of one flavored muffins. Which is not acceptable.. the room was decent and the bed was comfortable

I paid $60/room so you get what you paid for. 7:30 pm I was greeted by someone in the window with no shoes on. She was nice and helpful though. Enter the room, stains on the walls and bedding. Floor was dirty. I had to wipe my feet off before entering the bed. I had to plug in the TV, which was weird. We slept and continued day 2 of the road trip. If you don't get grossed out easily and just need a place to lay your head, that's all this place was good for.

I am not one to give poor reviews however the rooms need some serious overhaul. I should have went back and asked for another room but didn’t want to complain. Not all the rooms are in the same condition. I didn’t dare sleep or sit on the bed as there was an OBVIOUS giant yellow stain on the comforter, burn holes in the sheets, couch was stained beyond repair with white stains, the chairs I wiped with a soapy rag and it was black. Half the room didn’t have power and ac barely worked. Needless to say I made it work and for the price it’s worth the shot for a night but beware you don’t know what you’re get. You can see they are making improvements and the staff was and is very nice and friendly while respecting your space and privacy.

The bed was horrible I went to front desk to let them know it felt like sleeping on a box spring she told me it’s not a problem . The floors were dirty walls had marks and dirt spots. This hotel is going down housekeepers are lazy and half ass doing their job. It shouldn’t take two people per rooms and the room still not up to par. I won’t be spending any more money on this place😩
