"I loved it! Excellent amenities. Excellent food. Excellent service. I was looking for something that could offer me some peace and privacy. A place where I could relax and enjoy a private onsen to relax from a month-long trip through Japan. This property delivered that and a lot more.
There are many different ryokan units at this property, each with a different name. You essentially get a detached Japanese home to yourself. My unit (labeled Western Style) had 2 hot springs bath: one indoors (with a sliding glass door) and an external one (covered, but outdoors, which you can regulate the siding slabs for privacy if you want to enjoy it Japanese-style).
The other highlight is the food. I had dinner and breakfast included in my rare. They are both served in private rooms inside their main building. Guests wear traditional Japanese clothing (yakata) for that, which is provided to you in your room. Dinner is omakase style. So, if you are a picky eater, you’ll be better off staying at your regular hotel chain, not an authentic Japanese accommodation. They do not cater to that type of guest. I personally found the food delicious.
The service was outstanding. The property is less than a 10 minute walk to the Yufuin Floral Village. They provide a taxi free of charge from the Yufuin train station to pickup you up and drop you off at check-out.
I will decidedly return."
