Highly Disappointing, not as advertised!
View over the castle was great! Everything else was highly disappointing.
Upon check-in they tried charging us the room again even though the monies had already been taken when we booked the room, my husband had to prove it before they double checked their own system (crazy!) We chose Hart & Garter as it has a spa, poor advertising meant guests actually have to pay extra for this and not even the hotel could advise where this was stated, instead advised they are looking at the advertising next week as it is misleading (again poor Customer Services) Then came bed time, the springs in one of the mattresses were all popped out (we booked the superior king room and it was 2 singles pushed together) Called reception in the morning and asked for the manager as my wife barely slept, they sent house keeping who asked to inspect the mattress! After seeing the springs before even feeling them she apologised and advised she would put the room out of service, there is no way you wouldn’t notice these when changing the bed, wish I’d taken a photo.
We did get around 45% refund but we certainly won’t be returning here, we’ll stay at the Macdonald for sure next time!
It's an old traditional hotel and is ideally situated for any events that may involved the Queen being at Windsor Castle. The hotel faces on to the Windsor Castle so if you are located in one of the rooms at the front of the hotel, you have a perfect view to take in any of the pomp and ceremony. Hotel could do with being renovated, but at the same time maintaining it's traditional character.
The hotel was being modernised but was really goo. Excellent location for sightseeing. Food was really good and would certainly recommend breakfast at a very reasonable £10 pp. only problem was like most places there was no parking at the hotel
Stayed 2 nights central location rigt opposite the castle excellent for the town only issue no on site parking had to go to local car park before 9am to pay tickets for day
Good location however quite noisy too. Rooms are dated and the lights are dim. Could do with a refurb. Bed comfortable but I was really cold in the night and there were no extra blankets in the room

The hotel was central and was clean and tidy with big rooms. However, we were not aware that we'd be in a back building, with a side street / alley way entrance. Also, roadworks started right outside the window at 5am on Sunday morning which really disturbed our stay and ruined the day we were meant to be spending in Windsor as everyone was so tired from an early start. While this may be outside the hotel's control it was a shame that they hadn't known about the works, nor made apologies when it was raised.
I absolutely LOVED this hotel!! On most vacations, I never invest in a nice hotel but I’m so happy I stayed at the Clarion because the location is insane; it’s directly across the street from Windsor Castle and it’s right in town near all the shops and restaurants. I had a great view of town from my window and the room was lovely and very comfortable. The only complaints I have are that the check-in process was a bit annoying; it took 10-15 minutes to check me in because they couldn’t find my reservations. Besides that, the window on the show wasn’t fully attached so the floor got really wet when I showered. Other than that, however, it was an amazing hotel. If I ever return to Windsor, I will definitely stay here.

Hit & miss
On arrival the hotel charged me again having paid when booked in June. When I went back to reception to challenge with proof of payment I was told they would need to investigate and come back after a further 1 hour.
Bathroom sink basin had a dirty rim around it, shower door did not fully close.
We also had noise until 4am keeping us awake.

The location is great! Opposite the castle and next to all the pubs and shops. Staff was very nice. But the hotel is very tired especially in the communal areas. The room also didn't have any heating? It had a small plug in electric heater on the floor to heat the whole room and bathroom. It wasn't warm until the middle of the night. That was a real shame given the fact it was so cold outside and you just wanted to be toasty in the room.
Was happy with the hotel and the room until this morning.
I was awaken by the guest above my room from around 6am
Every step they taken on the floor could be very loudly heard in my room because the the floor boards. This disrupted my sleep which I was very unhappy about.

Adequate hotel in great central location
Hotel was perfectly located in central location. Room was adequate but felt cramped. One of the bedside lampshades was broken. Bed was a small double and bedding was clean but not luxurious in any way - pillows were lumpy. Bathroom was very small and cramped. Due to the glass bath/shower screen being so close to the sink, getting in and out of the bath/shower was rather awkward. (Would have been very tricky for anyone elderly or with any kind of mobility issues). Bathroom wall tiles were generally clean but the grout was discoloured and black in a large area by shower. Room was chilly on arrival but we used the freestanding heater provided which worked well. We didn't make use of the hotel's facilities so could not comment in that respect. Hotel lacked atmosphere. We would've relayed these comments directly to the hotel using the comment card provided in the room but this had already been completed by a previous guest and not replaced..
