About this property
Family-friendly Cabin. Beautiful And Fun In All Seasons!
Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Northwoods on this 5 acre property with all of the comforts and amenities of home. Elbow lake is a deep, hard sandy bottom lake with 13 to 16 ft of water clarity. The lake is nearly seven miles long and is connected by channel to Little Bemidji. The lake is actually the headwaters of the Ottertail River. If you had a mind to, you could kayak or canoe all the way to the Red River! Provided are 1 paddle board and several small kayaks for those adventuring spirits. If you prefer, sit on the large wrap-around deck, where not only can you take in the tranquil waters and stunning forests of Northern Minnesota, you have a clear view of the sandy beach and dock. You can relax while your kids play in the water. New this year is an 85 ft floating dock with a ladder on the end. Your kids will wear themselves ragged jumping off the end!
When lake freezes in winter, there is direct access to 500 miles of groomed trails for snowmobiling. Several popular 'watering holes' are just a short ride away. Jump on the lake and cross country ski for miles or take a short drive to groomed cross country ski trails at Rainbow Resort or Itasca State Park. Great fishing. After a long day on the trail, relax in the wood fired sauna.

The cabin was spacious and lovely. The wrap-around deck and the view are stunning. This cabin met all around needs while we were here. Would definitely come back.
Enjoyed our stay. Cabin is located is a beautiful location surrounded by trees overlooking the lake. Kids had a lot of fun fishing off the dock. Little disappointed there wasn't more sand on the beach. Would definitely go back again.

Family Fun
We had a great time at the cabin it was well equipped with everything we needed. We had a great time ice fishing and spending time with family. There was plenty of room for all of us and lots to do. We loved the area lots of eagles and red headed woodpeckers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us.
Absolutely beautiful! We loved having our own deck! Swimming, fishing, kayaking, wake boarding and jet skiing!
It was so awesome to not be packed in between houses!
Water is beautiful!
Thank you for letting us stay!
We spent a week at a cozy cabin near Waubun, MN, on Elbow Lake, and it was a fantastic experience. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We did encounter a small issue with the septic system, but the owner responded promptly and went above and beyond by offering a large refund for the inconvenience without us even asking. Their attentiveness and accommodation made our stay even better. Highly recommended!
Great place to bring your family for a quiet getaway! We got to do lots of great fishing, relaxing outside, and a great place to relax inside too. So much to offer for you we barely had to bring half of what we brought! And it feels like you don’t have any one close to you! Great place!! Love the beautiful fresh air.
We chose this place because we have a large family, and it could accommodate all of us with ease! Very close to Itasca so we also loved that. We had fun Spotting large snapping turtles, listening to the loons, taking a Sauna and jumping off the dock, and hot tub! The water was clear and we couldn't get over how QUIET it was there. Very nice, Thanks to the host for the great experience.
Its a great house on a beautiful lake! We enjoyed the many fish around the dock and the occasional turtle or loon joining the fish.
We did wish that it had better air conditioning. Granted we were there during the hottest three days of the summer, but it was rough during the day to stay comfortable.
We did appreciate that there was room for all (8) of us, but we would be hard pressed to get three more people into the house comfortably as advertised.
It was nice that it felt very secluded, even though there were other houses around. We rarely saw or heard anyone else, other than the loons. And the kids had plenty to do with swimming and looking at rocks and kayaking so we didn't need to go anywhere else while we were there.
Overall, a good house for a nice vacation.

It was ok
Check-in was weird, owner was still there cleaning. Felt like we interuppted and they didnt finish cleaning. Check-in was at 4:00, she left at 4:30. Listing states several small kayaks but there was only 1 with a broken paddle. Listing also mentioned that there would be a ladder on the dock to get in and put of the lake, but there was no ladder. The ladder was laying in the yard and seemed to be broken or missing a peice.
Also showed a close up picturw of nice looking sandy beach, but whole beach area was covered in weeds.Seemed like whatever they used to keep beach area clean was not working.
We did have a good time though just not exactly what was shown or described. House was nice with lots of windows with nice views.
Loved the location and the cabin was spacious. We loved the lake and played in it all weekend long. Cabin was very spacious and comfortable for my kids and grandkids.
We gather here each year to attend the Naytahwaush Nightriders Fun Run. This property is close to trails and local restaurants. We really enjoy The Elbow Lake Lodge and The Broken Arrow. (Both must go's as well). The cabin is comfy and plenty of room to spread out. We had a group of 10. We were to check in at 4:00pm, but the driveway hadn't been plowed yet or the paths shoveled. I called Sarah and in 5 minutes her plow person was there clearing us out. We did have to shovel to the house and sauna, but that was ok . The sauna and hottub are a wonderful addition as it gave us all time to relax after riding.
We love the story behind the cabin and all the personality that it has.

Not impressed
Was not to impressed when we walked in the door, we didn’t want to take off are shoes. There was so much hair on the floor it was disgusting, not what we were looking to do was clean the floors when we arrived. Was a little odd as well when we opened the fridge and there was food all over and well we had to clean the shelves off before putting are food in there. I will say the bathrooms were very clean and the bedding was clean but to floors in the bedrooms were the same just hair and hair balls everywhere. Like drop you shirt on the floor and well don’t think of putting that back on. We used a sheet on the couch just cause it had so much hair all over it. The sauna and hot tube were the saving factor they were very nice.
They need some help in the cleaning aspect of the place and it would be a great place to stay.
As others have said, those views can NOT be beat. Wow. (The photos don't do it justice.) We went for the week of Thanksgiving, and the sauna and hot tub were phenomenal. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the place feels really private and serene. Everything is really easy to use. Even my chef-husband (who loved the convection oven) had most things needed for a holiday feast (maybe better measuring spoons? I'm digging deep here for something negative, it's that lovely). (Oh and dog owners, FYI: there is a friendly, neighborhood dog who comes over off-leash. Good or bad, I suppose, depending on your dog's personality!) Communication with the owner was both easy and pleasant. Every day, we saw flocks of swans flying over the lake, and once, a bald eagle, just standing on the lake ice. Ideal cabin living.
Our family had a great time at Elbow Lake. We're definitely planning on a return visit. It's a great Minnesota Lakes location, easy to get too but nice and quiet. Large dock to enjoy. Fishing was good. Water sports were a blast for the kids. Sara is a great host, super communication. The sauna and hot tub are a luxury you wouldn't expect, but very nice to have.
Our stay at the cabin on Elbow Lake was great. The privacy and accomodations are one of the best. Plenty of room and comfortable beds! Loved the lake view from the deck, great way to start and end the day. Wonderful hosts!
