The staff was very helpful with all our questions about sightseeing Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. We walked around the city, road several ascensors, road the buses, saw the lighthouse, visited the Fonck Museum in Vina del Mar and National Maritime Museum in Valparaiso.

Buen lugar, mala relación precio y calidad.
El lugar está muy bien ubicado en términos turísticos, sin embargo el ruido afuera no permite descansar. Las instalaciones no corresponden al precio.
Booked a suite with a terrace, for $200 USD per night. The room was tiny, not even 150 square feet. No desk or table, no place to put your stuff. The bed? Perhaps it was a recycled bed, or it had been used as a Sumo wrestling matt. The bathroom was very small with no where to even put your toothbrush. The terrace was 3' by 8', not even the size of a balcony. At $100/night, it would be marginal value.
Charmigt mindre hotell i gamla kvarteren ovanför hamnen i Valparaiso alldeles intill linbanan. Personlig service. Många trevliga restauranger i närheten.
Wow. What can I say about this hotel? This was probably one of the best hotels I've stayed in when you factor in price, service, location, and the view. I booked this hotel kind of last minute and I didn't really know what to expect. I had been to Valparaiso before, but I didn't realize the exact location of the hotel, which is set on the tippy-top of Cerro Alegre with some of the best views of Valparaiso and next to Ascensor Reina Victoria (one of the lifts). I booked a single room with an ocean view. The view was spectacular! I could have just sat on the chair next to the window and gazed out at the ocean and the city all day. The view from the terrace is even more spectacular. It's a must see! The breakfast was also delicious. They served perfectly cooked scrambled eggs with fresh bread, fruit, REAL coffee, tea, juices, ham, cheese, and cake. It was all delicious and the service was superb. The only downside for people may be the noise. It is directly in front of a restaurant/bar. But I always travel with earplugs so I didn't hear a thing. I recommend bringing a good pair of earplugs if you stay here because you will hear street noise and noise outside of your room. It's an old mansion and the floors creak and the walls are thin, but don't let that stop you from staying in this beautiful hotel!
Very nice visit in Valparaíso hotel Casa Vander. The personnel is excellent, helpful and frendly- The building itself is special including the terrace in the top of the house. What a view! The only minus is the noice of party people coming from outside.

be aware of Price: they don't respect it
We stayed ath the hotel for one night. Location was very good, room was standard but with not much space to store anything for a trip of more tan 2 days and no frigobar; it was also kind of hot (no air conditioning). Bathroom was fine, but not fancy or big and with some details in the painting.
Staff is really nice and helpful.
BUT... although my booking receipt mentioned that taxes were included, at the check-out VAT suddenly appeared added to the bill. No arguments were usefull with the receptionist and I dind't want to make a scandal, so I ended up paying it. I don't know whether this was technically hotel's or expedia's problem, but even in the sencond case, a decent hotel would not charge the VAT to the customer and later make its own arrangements with expedia for reimburse or anything. Besides, under Chilean law -and i'm a lawyer- prices shown MUST BE VAT INCLUDED.
Really desappointing to end this way something that had been overall a nice stay.
