I had a wonderful stay at Ycona Resort. From the moment we arrived, the staff attended to our every need and made us feel truly cared for. The manager, Claudia, along with Omar, were especially outstanding—both were incredibly helpful in facilitating all of our plans and were always flexible and accommodating. They even helped arrange romantic activities on-site, which made our stay extra special. The villas were spotless and cleaned daily, which added greatly to our comfort. This ended up being one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Zanzibar. Anything that wasn’t readily available at the resort was seamlessly arranged by bringing someone in from town, making it feel like there was almost no need to leave the property at all. An unforgettable experience from start to finish.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ycona resort in Zanzibar. From the moment we entered the resort the workers made us feel like we were at home. They allowed us to have an early check in after our morning flight. We stayed in the beach villa, which was absolutely magnificent. Private pool, great views of the ocean, and a rooftop tub as well. The villa was clean and well-cooled, a perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. What really made our stay at Ycona special was the amazing service from everyone present. Whenever we needed to go somewhere, a golf cart was ready within 10 minutes to take us around the resort, and the drivers, especially Omar, were extremely kind and accommodating. The food was amazing as well at all of the restaurants, and the romantic dinner we did had a fantastic meal. Grace, Esther, Samwel, Omar, Leyla, Anja the GM, and everyone else we met were ready to do everything they could to make our stay memorable and enjoyable and that is truly what made our stay so special. The Cave Spa was also well worth the money. Ycona was a 10/10 experience with a beautiful resort and setting and I’m looking forward to coming back whenever I return to Zanzibar.

The property was beautiful. We stayed in a beachfront villa Y3. Everyone was amazing from Tess at the front desk to Emile and Esther in the restaurants. They made our anniversary very special. So thankful. Omer on checkout was amazing as well.

Looks like luxury, run by amateurs

Unfortunately the only luxury thing about this resort is the aesthetics. Upon check-in we were informed the three restaurants advertised is not open simultaneously, which means you only have one place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, which is misleading when you are booking a resort that says it has three restaurants (it’s more accurately one restaurant that changes location). Additionally they push you to pre-order your dinner hours in advance “to have a great experience”. Upon check-in we were also informed that if we had any issues they were there to help. Which is true, the first night our bedroom didn’t have curtains all around which means it was bright as day in the room at 6:30am, when we raised the issue that morning additional curtains was hung in the room. However, throughout our entire stay we encountered problems every day and despite willingness to fix any problems we had, we didn’t go on holiday to get any problem fixed, we went on holiday to have no problems at all. Staff is very friendly but clearly not very well trained. Out of 5 waiters we had only one looked to have any real experience in working in the service industry. We were missing items with our orders daily, they came into our villa/garden three times unannounced, they took our robes and didn’t return them, turndown service was missed and generally just very insecure service. We also ended up having breakfast at the villa on occasions as there were too many bees to eat at the beach lounge.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Ycona Luxury Resort. From the moment we arrived, everything was flawless. The resort is incredibly clean, beautifully maintained, and every space feels fresh, luxurious, and peaceful. Our villa was spotless and thoughtfully prepared, and you can truly tell they take pride in maintaining the highest standards. The service was impeccable. Every staff member was warm, professional, and attentive, always making sure we were comfortable and taken care of. They paid attention to every detail and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our entire stay. This was a once in a lifetime luxury experience for my husband and me during our honeymoon. The atmosphere was serene, exclusive, and truly special. Everything from the surroundings to the hospitality exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful for the unforgettable memories we created here and would highly recommend Ycona Luxury Resort to anyone looking for a true luxury experience and exceptional service.

We really enjoyed our experience at Ycona, one of the nicest hotel experiences. The hotel was really well laid out, and the staff were incredible, the friendliest and kindest people. It was also a really good move by the resort to have a WhatsApp group that had all the staff on it so there was always someone able to assist our requests. Thank you to everyone for the experience, and for making my wife’s birthday special at dinner with a vibrant happy birthday song! I would definitely recommend this resort.

We had an exceptional stay at Ycona Luxury Resort—truly one of the best resorts I’ve ever visited. The villa was beautifully designed, combining luxury with lush greenery and a variety of trees that created a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. As a wildlife enthusiast and photographer, I was thrilled to spot incredible species right from the resort grounds, including a Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey, a Red Squirrel, and the stunning Woodland Kingfisher. Dinner was over and they asked us if we wanted dessert that was our clue they forgot about us. So, with hurt feelings we left for our villa. They tried to make it up to us by offering to sing and give us a cake after the next days dinner. We declined. They then wanted to bring our cake to our room. We declined. We felt that they wanted to just sell us the cake. You know. Make the sale. We were leaving in the next few days. One other surprise was that we discovered was that the room service charge was $10 per person not per room. The way they mentioned the charge “it will be $10 for room service” lead me to think it was per room not per person.

Wunderschönes - großes Haus mit rooftop pool. Das freundlichste Personal ever. Essen in den Restaurants in Spitzenqualität. Haben auch die Ruhe am Pool genossen.

Ein traumhafter Aufenthalt im Paradies! Wir verbrachten zwei Wochen im Ycona Luxury Resort auf Sansibar – und es war in jeder Hinsicht einfach exzellent! Der Service, die Sauberkeit, die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter, der wunderschöne Poolbereich, die Restaurants und die Qualität der Speisen – alles war auf höchstem Niveau. Eine glatte 10 von 10 mit Stern! Man spürt in jedem Detail, dass hier mit viel Liebe, Achtsamkeit und Professionalität gearbeitet wird. Das gesamte Team hat uns mit einem Lächeln empfangen und dafür gesorgt, dass wir uns vom ersten Moment an rundum wohlfühlen. Das Resort liegt in Uroa, einem eher ruhigen Teil der Insel – perfekt für alle, die Entspannung und Abstand vom Touristentrubel suchen. Wir wollten genau das: Ruhe, Natur und Zeit zum Auftanken. Einziges kleines Manko: In der direkten Umgebung gibt es nur wenige Restaurants oder Bars – dennoch war das kulinarische Angebot im Hotel so hervorragend, dass wir kaum etwas vermisst haben. Zudem haben wir auch viele Ausflüge unternommen. Alles in allem war es ein traumhafter Urlaub, der uns noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird. Ein Ort, an den wir definitiv gerne zurückkehren. Besonders zu hervorheben ist, dass wir kostenlos auch früher einchecken konnten in unsere Villa und ebenfalls wurde uns auch das Frühstück für diesen Tag nicht berechnet. Danke an das gesamte Ycona-Team für zwei unvergessliche Wochen im Paradies! 🌴✨
