"Great service , clean rooms"

"Wallpaper falling off walls. Bathroom was clean. Toilet paper roll falling off the wall and not functional. TV didn’t work if you were using the coffee pot. Room wasn’t cleaned until we asked. Amenities and parking were $20/day even if you didn’t use them. Unfortunate because it could have been a good stay in an older eclectic building. Staff was very nice when notified though- although they just said there was nothing they could do about it as we booked through hotels.com. Hotels.com should vet their places better and not book out trash. "

"This hotel was the worst I’ve ever stayed at. Everything was totally outdated. The room had not been remodeled probably since the 50is. The carpet looked gross the smell was bad, curtains were hanging off the hooks. The fitness center is permanently “temporary closed” as is the pool. The person at the front desk had no clue about anything. I asked for somewhere to buy water and both the evening and morning person working had no idea. The only other person checking in that I saw was a homeless with her plastic bags. Don’t stay here. I was going to a funeral and wanted to be close to St. Thomas Aquinas college. "

"The Opera House Hotel is a gem in the south Bronx. Check in was very smooth and we were given a sheet explaining how everything "works" at the hotel. I can't emphasize enough how clean the property was. I couldn't say the same for the sidewalks outside, but inside was very impressive. Even the elevators and the stairwells were spotless. We thought the elevator was a bit sluggish, but got the job done. The room was also very clean and tidy. We thought the bulbs in the lamps on either side of the bed were fairly dim, but we preferred them to the overhead light. One of the switches was very loose and you had to hold the bulb still to turn the switch. Likewise, the desklamp had no bulb in it. Had we spent more time in the room we would have probably asked about a new bulb for that fixture. Unlike most hotels we've stayed at, there were no complimentary containers of shampoo or lotion. The shower in the bathroom was very modern and clean. There were soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers in the shower. The closet in the room was nice and big, with hangers, but there was no hair dryer or iron/ironing board in the room. The bed was comfortable but the laarge pillows were fairly solid and not the most comfortable to us. We felt it was fairly warm in the room, even though outside temps were in the 50s and 60s. We ended up running the AC to keep the room comfortable. We were happy with our stay and will probably stay there again on our next visit to our son's family."

"We enjoyed our stay at the Radio Hotel. It was comfortable and affordable with a baby. The views of the city from uptown were great. Housekeeping made up the room and took out the trash daily. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Close to the 1 train. Would definitely return."

"Rooms are nice and spacious and pleasant smelling. Thr breakfast was fresh anf delicious. Staff friendly and attentive, the only hiccup was many don't speak English so there was a language barrier. Also there were ALOT of dogs which triggered allergies in my travel mates. I would definitely stay here again. "
