Needed a room for my mom in law later in the evening and they were close to Torrington. Decent reviews so I sent her there but made the reservation after 9.. Small print said they don't answer the door after 9...she tried to get an answer fr 20 minutes and didn't get a response so had to send my 76 year old M-I-L down the road to a chain hotel. $55 down the drain.
Booked room through Expedia while coming into town, stopped and got gas across the street. Show up no on there, I mean no one there at all. Looked abandoned, message on answer machine was from Sept 9th saying they were full for a month. Expedia was no help on figuring this out. No refund and you sold me a room to a place that does not exist. Complete BS

No one there.I waited for 3hours to check in .No one come ,no answer, andI sent taxt to them again and again.
I wasted my time and was angry.
That day was terrible.
I want to get refund my money.
They were trickster.
The No Vacancy sign was lit when we arrived. There was no one at the front desk so we left a voice mail and went across the street to get gas and when we came back there was someone at the desk. They said the manager had quit and she was a manager from another hotel and came by to assist. There was not a room ready - none clean, so we went to dinner to wait for a room to be cleaned. She did a good job, the room was very clean but this is a very very old motel. And I guess that is expected for such a low fee to stay overnight. There were no blinds only curtains and they were partially see through. Same in the bathroom no blinds or curtains only a sheet of film on the lower window pane. So if you don't care about how old the place is then I would say stay here because it is very reasonable. But otherwise we will pick another hotel in the area next time.

If you are used to staying in $40 / night somewhat old-timey and economical motels, then you will be comfortable here. But it is not a Best Western so if you are picky, pay more and go somewhere else. The staff was great. Expedia didn't make it clear if they were billing my credit card or if the staff was supposed to so she photocopied it along with my ID just in case. Expedia wasn't answering the phone - we could only get a recording.
scam website, the place was empty. nobody answered the office door. screwed my trip! i will never use your scam service again. why reserve a room when it does not exist? after threehours trying to contact office, i bought a local phone and called until they answered! finally they said NO rooms available! the place had one or two people renting with twenty rooms open! screw you
Was not clean. Bed sheets stained. Base boards dirty. Refrigerator was dirty. Pillow blood stained. Mattress was dirty. Black specks all over bed. Not sure if it was bed bugs or dead bugs.

Decent hotel, for the price you get what you pay for.
When we arrived, the office was locked. We had to call a number that was on the door to get checked in. The gentleman who arrived was very nice and apologetic. The room was filthy! There was dust on the microwave that had been building up for a very long time! The mattress was obviously very old. It's true that you get what you pay for!!!
Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I read the few reviews I could find which all warned to be there before 6pm or you wouldnt be able to check in. We arrived at about 3pm, the main office was locked and there was a UPS tag on the door insinuating that nobody had been in that day. I knocked and waited, no response, even though the hours posted stated they should have been open. I proceeded to call the after hours number listed on the door. There was a bad connection so the call was dropped. I get a text message a few minutes later asking for my name and indicating they were at the hospital. I responded with my name and the response back said "lol" was she laughing at my name? I was then told that the key to my room was in the mailbox. I grab the key and we go in. The rooms are old and dingy and had a really bad smell. The next morning we noticed that the toiled had leaked water all over the bathroom floor. The bathtub was disgusting so we all opted not to use it, filled with mold and gunk. When we awoke and went to get the promised "english style breakfast" that was listed on hotels.com we found that the office was still closed and the UPS notice still there indicating nobody ever came on property. The main reason we booked this hotel over others was because of the free breakfast. I proceeded to lock the room, put the key back in the envelope and back in the mailbox, not once ever seeing anybody managing the property. A HUGE waste of money.

Okay for just an overnight bed & bath
My sister and I come to Torrington to see our elderly mom who is living there, and have usually stayed in another motel. This time when I searched, Grandma's Inn came up, and though not all the reviews were very positive we decided to give it a try since it was so inexpensive. The room was clean and pleasant enough, but did not have adequate provisions for us to stay there comfortably when not with our mother for several days. Julianna was very kind to us and concerned for our comfort, but we decided to move back to the other motel, now knowing why we paid so much more there. I would recommend it for a single guy or couple just needing an inexpensive bed with not much else.
Upon reaching the motel after 3 pm, I found no staff onsite. I called the number on the door several times because I could not leave a message due to the voicemail being full. Finally, a person answered and told me, Check in wasn’t until 4pm. I was told the person that cleans rooms called in sick that day and my room wasn’t ready. They asked that I return in an hour. The next day another person arrived after 3 and had difficulty getting someone to check them in. There is no ice machine available at the motel either. Would I stay there again, no.
Good Wifi connection. Not much on amenities. Not very clean, but tolerable for work-business related conditions. Bed was okay. TV reception and TV also okay. No hot water one day, but it was fixed when reported...those things happen. No coffee, no ice available, microwave and small fridge were located in the room. Not very good flushing pressure.

Nobody was ever in the office. Not even during posted office hours. I needed to change my credit card info & the owner said she would meet me at check-out. Nobody showed up so i had to weite it down on my check-out sheet & lock it in my room. It has been more than 24 hours & i still havent been chatged which is annoying. Other than that the facility was clean & they were able to accommodate our very late check-in.
Beware!!! This hotel has fine print that only allows you to check in prior to 6PM. I got there after 6PM and they had already canceled my booking. This was 4th of July weekend and there were no other bookings available forcing me to sleep in my car. I also noticed that this hotel is right next to railroad tracks.

Nice enough for one night of sleeping quiet and close to downtown
It was the worst experience at a hotel. The check in hours are only 2-5. We got there at 3 and no one was there. We called the number posted and talked to a very rude and annoyed woman who said she had to come back into town and clean the room. We waited an hour before she came back. She said she couldn't find my reservation even though I prepaid a week before. Then told me expedia "just sent it today." We came back that nite, the room had been sprayed with air freshener heavily, the chair was broken, the tub dripped, there was no hot water, no phone, no clock, and the bed was pretty worn. Since I prepaid we stayed the next night and discovered the air freshener was covering a urine smell. I never saw the office occupied for the rest of our stay, I'm not sure how they get any business. Next time I will pay extra and stay somewhere else.
This was the worst motel we have ever stayed at. The floors were filthy; dirt, dried leaves, candy wrappers, and a paper towel were on the floor. The smoke detector was missing, there was no cover plates on the light switches, the coffee pot in the room was not clean. We had to wait for ten min. for someone to let us check in, and we were supposed to have coffee and muffins for breakfast, but no one ever showed up with them either day. We actually bought a broom and dustpan to sweep the bathroom floor!
I found the check in person rude and unfriendly. My room was to have a microwave and coffee pot, I had neither. I was told that the carpets had been shampooed the day of arrival, but we found a toothbrush under the bed. Also not very safe for my two year old grand daughter when door frames were broken and nail sticking out.
