About this property
Sequoia River Cabin ~ Romantic Rustic Retreat on Kaweah River ~ Close to Sequoia
The Sequoia River Cabin is nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, in a quaint hamlet known as Three Rivers, Gateway to the Sequoias. We are just 5 minutes (5 miles) to the Ash Mountain entrance of Sequoia National Park. Our cabin is ideal for 2 Adults only ~ No Children and No Pets.
Our cute and cozy cabin has a well-equipped kitchen and a propane BBQ off the back deck. The cabin is ideal for a couple. The rear deck is just steps away from the Main Fork of the Kaweah River.
We are conveniently located on Sierra Drive, the main road through town, with the main fork of the Kaweah River just steps from the back deck. The private river setting allows for a true romantic getaway. There is a fire pit by the river to enjoy an evening fire and we do supply firewood.
Relax in the Sundance Spa / hot tub / jacuzzi on the back deck, listen to the sounds of the river and marvel at the Blue Heron and various duck species that call the river home. You just might see some deer at the river's edge.
In the evening, relax in the lounge chairs by the river and be mesmerized by the spectacular star-studded night sky.
In springtime, you can sit on the deck and catch a glimpse of the whitewater rafters and kayakers as they make their way down the river.
We offer plush towels, quality linens and we also provide bath amenities for our guests. DirecTV and high-speed Spectrum WiFi are available as well.
This historic cabin was originally built as a fishing retreat decades ago and has evolved a number of times since then. In the '70s it was Little Rainbow, the workshop of our local silversmith. After that it became a private residence, and later a trendy coffee house named The Cabin. The Cabin later became The Buckaroo, serving hamburgers and sandwiches.
IMPORTANT ITEMS TO KNOW:
TRAVEL INSURANCE It is essential for our guests to have travel insurance. We are in a high Fire Severity Zone. Fire season is typically August-October. In the event that a travel disruption occurs, we ask that you are covered as we don't issue refunds or extend stays due to usually being fully booked — and recommend you contact your insurer to assist with the cost of disrupted travel arrangements.
PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to not respect our rule for occupancy, which is 2 adults only, there will be a charge of $100 per night per additional person.
As shown in the pictures, we are located on the main road through town and you will hear some road noise at times.
The river behind our cabin is not deep enough for swimming. When it is deep enough for swimming, it is flowing too swiftly to safely go in but makes for excellent river rafting. The water level does get low at the very end of summer / beginning of fall, until we get some rain. You can walk downriver to where the north fork of the Kaweah River joins the main fork to a swimming hole.
PLEASE NOTE: NO VISITING GUESTS. Only the 2 guests who have reserved the cabin are permitted to stay per our insurance carrier, because they only cover the guests in the reservation.
NO SMOKING INSIDE THE CABIN. We are located in an extremely high-fire hazard area.
PLEASE NOTE: NO ANIMALS of any kind are allowed at this property. Members of our family have asthma and are extremely allergic to pet hair/dander. This poses a severe health hazard to hosts' family members and therefore there are no exceptions to this rule. You will be assessed a $400 deep cleaning fee if you bring your pet(s).

Everything was excellent, house, river, surroundings, once all the switches were identified we were in awe of the experience. The house was clean and well stocked, furewood was provided. Just a great place to get away to.
Everything was better than advertised. The personal care items were high quality, the spa was fantastic and the place was very charming and clean. If you’d stay there I don’t see how you could be disappointed. Definitely a 10. The deer along the river were an added bonus.
This was such a perfect cabin for my husband and I. The location was perfect to visit Sequoia National Park. And being right on the river was so fun. We saw deer walking right through the back yard. The amount of extras at this location was amazing. They had a regular coffee maker and a nespresso both stocked with coffee and pods, there was snacks, robes, slippers, and high quality kitchen utensils. The bed was insanely comfortable and the host was very responsive. The hot was amazing after a long day of hiking. Check in and out was a breeze. I would stay here again in a second.
We thoroughly enjoyed every single day at this cabin! We truly felt like we were alone on an island. The hosts thought of EVERYthing!! We hope to be back one day ❤️
You guys…. This is the most amazing home away from home you could ever imagine.
The details, the decor, the amenities, the cleanliness was all top notch. Super close to the park and nearby food. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here. We WILL be back!!
The cabin is exceptional on every measure. We had a wonderful time! There’s not a lot we can say that others haven’t already said - the cabin really is that good! We greatly appreciated the hosts’ helpful communications and the thoughtful details throughout the property.
My husband and I enjoyed three days at this wonderful location. Even in late September the river still had enough water running to enjoy soothing sounds, lots of birds and lovely evening cocktails on the deck overlooking it all.
The home was so very well appointed, every detail was perfect.
We hope to return in the future.
They didnt miss a detail, well kept, comfortable, peaceful, relaxing, & everything we were hoping for right before the Holidays. We didnt see any bears but we got a couple deer and loved it. Perfect for wine and sunsets or coffee and sunrise ! We will be back for another visit, Jami & Matt
Just like the scenery, pictures do not do this cabin justice. It is very beautiful and well maintained. Owners are very responsive and the cabin is stocked with anything you may have forgotten. Leaving was tough, but I hope to stay here again in the future
This is by far the most amazing VRBO rental my husband & I have ever stayed at. I would give this property a 10 star review if I could-well I guess I just did! Jeanie & Richard have thought of literally everything you could possibly need while staying at their property and it is truly breathtaking! Their communication is outstanding as well as the decor, furnishings, amenities, setting, cleanliness, etc etc. The location is perfect for hanging out in town visiting shops and enjoying food/beverages and is also a short drive to the Sequoia park entrance. If you are wanting a truly amazing rental to stay at in the Three Rivers area then this is it hands down! Thanks again Richard & Jeanie!!!Jesse & Frank
Our experience was A+ The cabin was comfortable, decorated with thoughtful and exceptional care of their guests. We enjoyed the wildlife, suggestions by the hosts for meals and local exploration. Highly recommend and we hope to have more experiences like it in our future travels. We’d not hesitate to book again if we are near 3 rivers. Thank you for an exceptional first Vbro experience!
Our second stay in Three Rivers was just as great as the first! The location right on the river is amazing...and so close to the entrance to the park. And the town with the artists' collective in the Dome next door is too cool. But the cabin is the real draw. So perfectly appointed and always clean and fresh and magical. It's a perfect destination for wonderful break from routine, even if you are retired like we are, and live in a beautiful place as we do. Looking forward to the next trip. Richard and Jeanie are probably the best hosts we have ever stayed with. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with us, we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary on the 1st. Your cabin brought us so much peace and serenity that was definitely needed. Mother nature definitely put on a great show for us, we absolutely enjoyed watching the hummingbirds dance around us on the deck, all the birds playing in the river but our absolute favorite piece of your property is listening to the beautiful river and watching the shooting stars that made this trip so magical. Thank you for the wine, fantastic hospitality and all the beautiful memories.
This was the perfect cabin for a weekend getaway from LA! We wanted a cozy spot close enough to Sequoia NP for easy access to the park. This place fit the bill, and then some. The hosts are communicative, helpful, responsive, and thoughtful. The property is clean with every amenity you could want. The park entrance is a short 10 minute drive up the road and the pre-heated hot tub is a welcome sight after a day of trekking through sequoia groves. We hope to be back soon and definitely recommend this cozy cabin to others looking to visit the area.
The pictures and description of the cabin do not do it justice. Jeanie and Richard have thought of absolutely everything with so many amenities and little touches throughout. It is missing nothing, and all ghe furnishings and appliances are top notch. The location could not be better. We loved being able to walk to multple restaurants and bars, and being so close to the park entrance was awesome. We came to ride the Harley through the Sequoias. It was magical! One of the best set of rides we've ever done. We loved the cabin so much and were very sad to leave.
We were absolutely blown away by all of the attention to detail and all of the extra touches from the property owners. From the minute we walked in, we felt like me were at a couples spa on the river! From the scents to the decor… everything is so well done. The indoor fireplace, outdoor hot tub and outdoor beach/deck area with fire pit made this stay one of a kind. This location made our top 2 of all the places we have stayed. The location is great for local food, coffee, shopping and adult beverages. We had a blast and we were able to explore Sequoia and Kings Canyon National parks. What a gem! Made great memories here and will be telling others about this beautiful home away from home!

My girlfriend and I stayed in the cabin for 3 nights in late May, and it was an absolutely perfect getaway. The hosts have taken everything into consideration, and as someone who has stayed in many a VRBO and non-VRBO rental property, I mean it when I say EVERYTHING, including very small touches, e.g., fresh flowers, nighttime bedspray, pre-arranged fire logs including kindling, spare toiletries, robes and towels for the jacuzzi. The kitchen was gorgeous, carefully stocked with every impliment you might use to cook a meal, even an elaborate one, and unlike so many other rentals the utensils were clean and organized. The river in the backyard is as beautiful as the images suggest. The hosts were incredibly responsive, and cheerful. The cabin is also just a 10 minute drive from the entrance to Sequoia. If / when I'm in the area again, I hope to stay here if I can. Can't recommend this highly enough.
This property is a true gem! The front of the property is unassuming but as soon as we entered the front gate, we were transported to a private haven that exceeded our expectations! It was so private and beautiful! We loved the special touches to the property like, the fire pit, lounging chairs w/shade umbrella by the bubbling river and an inviting patio with a hot tub. The river was so peaceful! I felt all of the stress of daily life leave my mind when sitting on the patio listening to the river and watching the hummingbirds! The cabin is decorated beautifully and very cozy with a gas fire stove ( perfect on the cooler evenings we spent there). The amenities in the cabin were perfect! We could tell the hosts have done this before! Loved the special touches like toiletries, soft plush towels, robes and slippers, box of “ things you may have forgotten”, snacks to take with you to the national parks, candies at bedside and yummy selection of coffees and teas. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Sequoia River Cabin and will be visiting again soon. If you are looking for a romantic vacation to the Sequoias or Kings Canyon, book this place…you will not be disappointed!
I cannot say enough good things about the Sequoia River Cabin. The hosts truly treat this cabin like it is their own home. I have stayed at a lot of rental homes and this is the cleanest, most thoughtfully appointed home I’ve stayed in.
They have thought of every detail. We cooked a lot in the cabin and the cookware, utensils, appliances provided are very nice. I felt like I was cooking in my own home. They provide beyond basic spices, oil, condiments, ice, “Common things you may have forgotten,” first aid kit. The bed was comfortable and they even provide a sound machine. The list of comforts goes on and on. All of this in addition to a welcoming bottle of wine!
The cabin location is stunning. The river that runs through the back is gorgeous with lots of wildlife to watch. We loved the hummingbird feeder and ate all of our meals on the deck with the company of the little birds. We were a short drive to the entrance of Sequoia park which was lovely since it’s a long drive into the park to find hikes. You are in the heart of Three Rivers.. it is a lovely town with lots of dining/coffee options… we didn’t dine out much but we did go to the local grocery for good meat for grilling!
The hosts are very responsive and extremely kind and accommodating. I really hope to return to explore the parks more and will be happy to stay here again. I will definitely recommend this cabin to anyone visiting the area.
Lovely little cabin on the river. It is the most high-tech rustic cabin we have stayed in and has lots of spices etc in the kitchen, which is well equipped. Richard and Jeannie are awesome hosts and we had a lovely time. Note that it is on the road to Sequoia so there is some road noise, but we did not find it too bad even in August.
