I had booked a room for a weekend for a family member to enjoy their birthday and he was blown away by the experience/guest experience. The space is beautiful and looks like paradise, the food is excellent, very clean space including the bathrooms and the highlight of it all was the friendly staff. They were extremely helpful and kind providing many things to do while visiting. Would definitely recommend for anyone passing by for a stay!
Signs of neglect, disrepair, bad management abound
The good: Tharindu & Varun, onsite staff, are very helpful. The bad: This hotel claims it's the "Epitome of Luxury". Is it? Judge for yourself:
*room's doorknob doesn't work
*TV only local stations with grainy picture, no remote
*broken fixtures everywhere
*trash bin with food pedal that's broken
*broken window in lounge
*picture window condenses. Can't see out of it.
*bathtub leaks on floor
*shower door doesn't shut
*no facial tissue
*bed creaks badly
*hot water hard to control, too hot, too cold
*salty food
*scenic view obscured by new construction
*unsafe electrical outlet
*no way to pay bill by credit card.
*incompetent management. Manager could not find my booking. I happened to call before arriving. Ms. Hamsimi told me I had to contact Hotels. I gave her all the information. Still, I had to spend hours and hours as the go-between. She wanted me to cancel my booking, and she offered a big discount. I was in the process of doing so, following her instructions, and she suddenly did an about face, reneged on her offer. She told me we would talk about this issue when I came, but she knew the whole time that she wasn't going to be here when we arrived! She was out of town, and refused to answer my messages. I paid about $230/night for at best a 2 star, neglected, mismanaged property. My wife observed, "There is nothing in this hotel that doesn't have problems." That's no exaggeration. This experience has definitely shaken my confidence in Hotels.com as well.
The location was not very convenient as it was far from the city centre and the approach road was very narrow. But once you reach there the location and property is fantastic. The cozy lounge is beautiful.
Beautiful and cozy hotel, a pearl of luxury in the middle of the nature surrounding Nuwara Eliya. Very welcoming staff and excellent food. Beautiful views from the hotel's garden. Excellent quality for price.
It was an awesome stay at the hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very hospitable and friendly. The only problem we faced was the condition of the road leading to the hotel, which really tested the vehicle. The hotel management has to do something to solve it early, so that their guests can reach with more comfort.
This hotel looks great on the surface, but seems to prioritize its appearance over the comfort of their guests. There were a lot of flies in the lobby and the room, and we were woken up around 8am by hotel construction outside our room. They did help us organize a trip into town to the tea factory. There were many options for breakfast on the menu, but we weren’t offered any of these and had to ask multiple times for coffee and tea. Overall it’s in a beautiful location and looks great, but we wouldn’t stay again.
Its up the hill, very beautiful deco of the property and beautiful themed rooms. About 6km from the city where you will find shops and restaurants. Very warm and friendly staff who go the extra length to make your stay comfortable. Felt more like family and home there!
