Wonderful experience

We were there only one night, but our host Robert made sure we had a lovely time. The mansion and grounds are beautiful, the room large and cozy, and the breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend for anyone except those with little kids.

It was a trip back in time! Lovely historic mansion conveniently located near the university and Armory neighborhoods. Gracious and accommodating staff made us feel at home. Take advantage of the bountiful breakfast. Stay here if you're looking for a unique experience that offers a glimpse into the past.

What a gem!

We were on a family road trip and stayed here on the road from Toronto to NYC. I was a bit suspicious about the neighbourhood after reading a report on here about how “terrible” it was. We’re spoiled Norwegians, used to everything being super safe and high quality. Ok, we did pass a few rundown houses on the way (not at all scary though), but the neighbourhood Lip Mansion was in, is simply beautiful. My husband went running in the morning, an found the whole area to be real nice. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Rob in the most heartfelt and gracious way possible. We were even upgraded to the suite, in the cutest annex right next to the house. The very spacious loft has a cosy and hip décor with a French touch, with a spa room and small but well equipped and smart kitchen. A washing machine & dryer was a great plus when on the road. There were even fresh flowers on the table and soft music on. Felt like coming home. Beds were great, everything perfectly clean and lovely. We arrived late, and got super tips on where to order take out. We shouldn’t have eaten that late though, cause breakfast next day was amazing! Pancakes, fruit, eggs any style, all home cocked by charming and very professional Jacob. When we left the next day our teen age daughter said: “I wish we could stay for at least a week. I’d like to live there, and I’m gonna miss them.”

Place is worth a stay. Quiet at night on a Tuesday however street construction in the morning( not the proprietor’s fault) was annoying and woke us vacation girls up at 6am. Place was spacious and worth a visit.

Charming alternative to chain hotels in Syracuse

I love the quirky charm of this B and B. Second time staying when dropping off my daughter at Syracuse and much prefer it to a chain hotel. Reasonable price, short easy drive to campus, and a fun frozen in time vibe. Nice breakfast although the coffee served with it could be better. Comfy bed, clean, updated bathroom, love the in room fridge and keurig, new wifi is really fast. Not ideal if you want walkability to shops, etc. but this wasn't an issue for me as I'm simply driving to and from campus. I will stay again!

Great B&B experience in NY!

Beautiful mansion, loaded with interesting history. Staff was attentive and professional and prepared an amazing breakfast. As far as accommodations go, this was the highlight of our week-long east coast trip!

Excellence with a hint of nostalgia

Robert and staff are excellent hosts. Robert greeted us with a friendly tour of the Mansion. The beds are comfy, big fluffy towels, WI-FI service is fast, the breakfast is outstanding, better than a restaurant. Grounds and home is well maintained. The art, stained glass and furniture are beautiful. We had a wonderful stay.

I had a very comfortable 2-night stay. Robert has done an amazing job bringing the house to life - beautiful stained glass, tasteful period furniture. He was a great host - courteous, friendly and helpful. I had to head out before breakfast hours one morning and he packed me a to-go bag with a delicious breakfast sandwich, fruit, hot coffee, and a to-go cup. I was so grateful (especially for the coffee!).

It was for our annual United Methodist Conference being held at the nearby Onondaga Community College-easy to get to from the WC Lipe Mansion. The breakfasts and service was top-notch. I would certainly go again.

Beuatiful & unusual hotel experience. the owner upgraded us to a king suite at no extra charge. We were visiting family so we actually needed less services than a normal hotel guest - regretted not taking advantage of all that Lipe Mansion offered!

Nice B&B close to Syracuse University

Great atmosphere and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The daily breakfast was wonderful. Will definitely book here again.

Enjoyed the stay very much! Highly recommend it! Staff was hospitable and it had really nice cozy rooms.The made to order hot breakfast was a very nice treat. We will be coming back to this place on our next visit!

Elegant stay with very friendly host

We booked this place purely because Syracuse was a good spot for stopping part way from New York City on the way to Niagra Falls. We ended up having a great time with our host Rob in fantastic surroundings. Breakfast is elegant and very good! Cannot recommend this place enough.
