Kookaburra down

Kookaburra Down Under is situated in a grand 1920's Coogee mansion. The very spacious and eclectic studio apartment has just been renovated and offers guests a unique space to enjoy whilst holidaying in Coogee.

The apt is approximately 60 sq metres and is surrounded in thick sandstone walls that have been hand rendered to replicate a Greek hideaway.

Kookaburra Down Under offers a very comfortable king size bed with a cosy feathered mattress topper and feathered pillows.
The king bed can be split into 2 long single beds offering a great space for friends who are travelling together.

The walk in bathroom is spacious, easily accessible and designed to suit all age groups. Quality brass finishings with a marble basin are accentuated by a vintage sewing machine base and vintage designed tiles.

The kitchen is well equipped for travellers who may want to have extended stays. There is an Espresso machine , hot plate , hot pot , toaster , sandwich maker , cookbooks , fridge and microwave and a well stocked pantry.
Also within the apartment is a laundry with washing machine and second toilet.

The location is perfect and is located only 2 minutes walk to the beach, shops
, cafes and transport.

A few steps outside and you are on a sun -drenched terrace with dining table and chairs. The terrace overlooks Coogee Bay Road so there are water views and it is a great spot for fireworks on New Years Eve. The terrace is shared with my family.

Other outdoor space to enjoy is our award winning landscaped tropical garden at the rear of the building. The garden has large dining table and chairs along
with a hot and cold outdoor shower.

Our property is unique to Coogee. We live on the premises – directly above Kookaburra Down Under. It is perfect for guests who enjoy staying in unique spaces that offer comfort, are well designed and are reasonably priced.

Please note Kookaburra Down Under is not suitable for young children.

Coogee stay

Had a great time at this studio apartment. It’s well kitted out with everything close by. Lots of walkable places to eat and great beach. It’s on a slight hill but very manageable.

Very comfortable accommodation, close to absolutely everything.

Tracy and Deyan are great hosts and have an eye for detail. The space is a generous size and very comfortable, fantastic shower, not even 5 mins walk from Coogee Beach. The area is very eclectic and has a myriad of dining options to suit all budgets, or just eat in at one of the gorgeous alfresco areas at your accommodation. Easy access to the city. Highly recommend this place.

Living the Beach Life

Three things make Kookaburra Down Under a standout. 1. The location so close to Coogee’s beach, ocean baths, restaurants and cafes. 2. The cool calm privacy of the large ground floor flat with its zoned lighting that spotlights spaces as if you had separate rooms. The flat’s whitewashed walls made me feel as if I was in a villa in the Greek isles. There is no view, 3. however you can use the brilliant deck, above the street level, for your outdoor space as well as a lush back garden. The deck is screened by palms, swept by ocean breezes; an outdoor living room w a glimpse of the sea and the chatter of local birds (rainbow lorikeets, I’m looking at you). It’s also a place to chat w your hosts and other guests which I appreciated as a solo traveler. Tracy is a laid back, responsive and helpful host who lives with her family on the floor above (you will hear footsteps - human and canine.) The flat’s kitchen is exceptionally well equipped w a good starter pantry. The bathroom is big enough to be a bedroom (as it once was) and for couples, the laundry has a second sink and toilet. I slept well in the huge king bed. The flat looks just like the photos but they don’t completely convey how very comfortable you will be here.

Perfect little getaway

Beautiful studio in the heart of Coogee. The space is wonderfully designed and spacious, perfect for a company of two. Will definitely be booking again :)

Great location, cute unit!

Excellent location. Once parked you don’t need your car; beach, cafes/restaurants, bars & supermarket are all within walking distance. Unit is well equipped with comfortable bed & pillows. Smart TV with Foxtel as well. My only disappointments was the parking and the noise from upstairs that filters through. You can hear wallking and the floorboards squeeking. You can also hear when they shower. With regard to parking, you have to park in certain streets that have all day parking on one side of road only, so we drove around in circles for 20mins then walked 300m with luggage. My suggestion would be to park across their driveway and unpack then go find parking. Then do the same when departing. Overall experience was enjoyable and owners were welcoming.

Great beach Location

Enjoyed our stay at Coogee. We were out and about a lot of the time either going into Sydney or down at Coogee beach. Buses were handy and we could catch the Light rail into town from nearby Randwick. Accomodation was good for 2 people. The accomodation was quiet and well equipped and hosts were helpful.

Home Away From Home

From start to finish, Tracy and Deyan were quintessential hosts. Their cute studio apartment was perfect for our 8 nights in Sydney, a five-minute walk to Coogee Beach and transit. The apartment had everything we'd need and was very comfortable. We'll definitely stay again if they'll have us!

Location is perfect but the small touches make it special

Beautifully decorated with original art n textured white walls that show it off, s one big room studio with several nooks that define spaces within spaces, all the utensils and extras one would put in if it were your own home including toiletries. Tracy lives upstairs and was instantly responsive to any questions or requests. This was our home for close to two weeks and will be again the next time we travel to Australia.

Beautiful property and cozy apartment

Kookaburra Down Under is a beautiful apartment ideally located near Coogee Beach. It was spotless and was equipped with all that we needed for our stay. Our host was prompt in her communications, gracious, and very welcoming. The apartment is also close to the major transit lines that allowed us to travel easily around beautiful Sydney.
