The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We were also upgraded which was a nice surprise.
The bedrooms could do with some updating and a good clean as there were quite a few cobwebs.
We wanted to spend a couple of days in the Brighton area, but wanted a hotel out of town, somewhere quiet.
Came across the Old Tollgate in our search and it looked really good.
From our arrival and checking in, to service at the bar and restaurant, all the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The room was very comfortable, with almost silent air conditioning, under floor heating (handy in winter), and a very comfortable bed.
The food in the restaurant was excellent. The buffet Breakfast had a great choice of fruit and cereals as well as hot dishes. The carvery in the evening was the nicest we have been to in a long time as well.
After dinner we recommend a walk around the village, which is very pretty. You also have Bramber Castle ruins practically opposite the hotel. Not a lot to see there, but interesting history.
Next time we are in the area we won't even look anywhere else, we would love to go back.
First time staying at BW in this country, Room clean, bed comfortable, food great, staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay with this franchise in the future.
Thankyou Bramber Staff.

Carvery Food
Nice hotel for stop over. Very helpful staff. But disspointed woth hotel charging £50!! For carvery for adult and child who just turned 13. No way my daughter ate £25 worth food. Despite bringing this up. We had no choice. Option of main and desert would b nice. We paid for starter we never had .For purely this reason wouldnt stay again. Shame.
We stayed here as part of a road trip around England. Our room was clean and comfy and had everything we needed - except good wifi! Reception said their was a problem with the wifi - a BT issue and it was in a black spot as well. After trying for a few hours to get reception we went to a pub up the road and got good reception and wifi. So unsure what the real story was. Good wifi is crucial for today’s travellers.
Dinner in the restaurant was good - a buffet. Breakfast also good.
In a little village so quiet and charming. Great walk up to the old church and castle ruins.
Would have rated higher if not for the wifi.
Comfortable room with lovely new bathroom. Lots of hot water and everything else for comfort. Communal areas were inviting and food good. Overall a welcoming and enjoyable experience after a day walking the SDW.
The staff were great. People need to be shown more thoroughly how to use the Carvary. The Carvary was very well priced - great value. Once I asked it was all explained! The room was excellent apart from TV Reception and the duvet was too hot. It felt that they were winter duvets and far too hot for a June night’s sleep. This made sleeping quite difficult, when normally I am a solid sleeper.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The hotel receptionist, Amelia, was amazing. Subsequently every member of staff we met, including the manager, Chris, were really friendly and helpful.

Wheelchair user. They put me in a standard room ..................
I have used Hotels.com for 3 years now and I have to say this is the worst hotel for the money that I have stayed in. I like comfort and for £92 I feel totally ripped off! The bed had so many springs sticking out all over the mattress. The owner should try sleeping on it. How can they justify his expense, such a very old fashioned room and not worth the money maybe £45! I would not recommend anyone to stay there and I feel totally let down by both the hotel and hotels.com. However I did have a nice meal!
Very pleasant accommodation and surrounding. Disappointed in Sunday's evening buffet as, though booked in advance, the buffet was quite dry. My husband asked for rare beef but was given the outer edge, which was far from rare or hot. I had the chicken which was also dry. My preferred choice was salmon but the idea of salmon in a tomato sauce was unacceptable.
Lovely relaxing weekend away. The hotel is back in time in a mainly good way. Staff are cheery and actually seem pleased to help. The food was great and room comfortable.
