Great place in the middle of town. Parking was quick and easy in the garage across the street. Walking distance to everything in Staunton. We'll stay here again on our next trip to the Shenandoah.
This was a very unique hotel in that it used to be a coffee shop and has now been converted to a small hotel. The upstairs apartment is divine. Loved the furnishings and decor. And the downstairs with the bar/coffee area is so fun. It is a wonderful concept and you will definitely enjoy your stay here. Bed and pillows are comfy, self check in is a breeze, and you’ll feel like a store owner during your stay. It’s absolutely the definition of Extraordinary!
The Storefront was a great place to stay. The location is amazing, walking distance to everything in Staunton. The space was clean and bright. We had no trouble accessing the unit and the owner was helpful and attentive before our arrival. The Storefront is a great change in pace from a standard hotel.
Great potential for hosting a party while visiting
The Storefront is a good place for a couple who want a place where they can entertain some friends in the evening while visiting Staunton. The downstairs bar and TV room (the "storefront" part of the property) would be a great venue for entertaining, for example, a group of 4-6 friends who had rooms at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel across the street. One serious flaw is that the downstairs area is NOT stocked with glassware for such entertaining, and there are only 5 sorta-water/wine glasses upstairs in the kitchen. So you would need to find/bring your own bar ware for a group. The downstairs has a powder room, so evening visitors don't need to use the upstairs full bath. Another hitch to be aware of is that the single thermostat is in the downstairs bar area. We were there on a night in the 30's, and the entire upstairs got too warm for comfortable sleeping. I had to get up twice to go downstairs to turn the thermostat down--eventually to 62 F--to keep the bedroom area comfortable, even with a book holding one of the large windows in the bedroom open for ventilation. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, but the tableware and glassware are on the thin side for serving any more than two people. With a little extra furnishing and better temperature control, this would be a great property for hosting an intimate party for friends.

Unique charming ambianice, convenient to everything, easy Street parking and surprisingly quiet for downtown location .
This was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised and pleased! It was everything the website reviewed. I look forward to returning in the later year for the fall.
It's private and comfortable, right in the middle of Staunton's charming downtown, an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and attractions such as the American Shakespeare Center/Blackfriars Playhouse.
Great little hotel right in the center of an awesome town! Terry, the owner, was great when we called him about the key code. He answered on the first ring and was super patient with us while we figured it out. Easy in and out from the highway and parking directly across the street. We’ve already recommended it and will be back next year!

Storefront stay
It was a fun place to stay at. The only issues we had were no batteries in remote. It had a washer and dryer which was amazing
My wife and I stayed at the Storefront before heading back to DC after spending a few days hiking in Shenandoah. It was a perfect place to unwind -- a phenomenal location steps away from restaurants, shops, and breweries, plus a thoroughly unique layout (that storefront bar downstairs!) that managed to provide both comfort and a fun new experience. Highly recommended.

Unique experience!
This cute, tiny little 1-room hotel is nestled in the heart of downtown Staunton, VA. The town is full of antique & vintage stores & a wide variety of rest-aurants. The Storefront is the perfect place from which to explore everything Staunton has to offer. The downstairs is a mini living room with TV & stereo,a bar area, & half-bath with stacked washer & dryer. Upstairs, there's a full bath with shower, full kitchenette with skylights, & a full/queen sized bed along with storage in the bedroom. It's quirky, fun. interesting & a good experience if you are considering tiny house living. This is a trend we are on, so really appreciated the spatial planning & design. A unique experience!
We stayed three nights; breakfast items were stocked for two nights. The butter and cream cheese had been used before we arrived; we got a half stick of butter and half a tub of crean cheese. Soap and other shower supplies were scant. The upstairs tv did not work. The promised amenities--snacks, coffee maker, etc--downstairs were not there. Do not know who was running the place when other reviewers were staying there, but things had changed by our fall 2014 stay.
Like it says, a whole building for the price of a hotel room. We had room to spread out, our kids stayed with us and had their own space and their own bathroom. Heaven!
