The inn and restaurant are very convenient to French Woods Festival and the little lake in front of the Inn is a nice place to swim or canoe.
Such a charming place in a beautiful location with authentic vintage atmosphere that’s straight out of a midcentury getaway! Host and staff were very accommodating, food and bar were wonderful, would love to stay here again!
My friend and I booked a room at the Inn at Starlight Lake to stay at while in town for an autumnal wedding. The name sounded beautiful alone, and the inn was even better in person than in the gorgeous photos. It’s a historic inn with a great view, delicious breakfast (included), and cozy atmosphere.
We got two twin beds with a hillside view, but could still see the lake from the windows!
Highly recommend staying here if in town near Hancock or Long Eddy.

Step Back in Time at the Starlight Inn
The Inn is a step back in time. If you're looking for a place to unwind away from the busy pace of modern life, this is just what the doctor ordered. Sari and Bonnie and staff are wonderful people, the food is top notch, and not having televisions in the rooms is a welcome bonus. The lake across the street affords opportunities to fish or kayak, and there's plenty of trails and back roads to explore whether you're hiking, biking, or driving around.
Enjoyed staying at The Inn at Starlight Lake. Planned a 2 day fishing trip to the West Branch of the Delaware river. It was like stepping back in time. The lack of internet service and television was actually quite pleasant. I sat and read in the evenings and listened to the wildlife at the lake. Viewed 2 whitetail buck drinking from the lake at 6 am with the fog rising from the lake. I plan on coming back.

Only reason to come here is lake is very good to relax and enjoy. Way too many little kids running around inside main lobby. Like a nursery. Shuffle board court in front is fun. Old bed and showers from 1960. Place has character. Only issue 2-6 years old running in fro t area all day

Convenient location to area I was working.
Cost vs benefit wasn't there. Even though it was neat to stay at a place build 200 or so years ago, the cost vs benefit wasn't there. Price point vs a traditional hotel was the same, but didn't have all of the amenities that a hotel would offer for the same price point.
I would stay here again if the opportunity arised.
We had a mixed experience here; would never return nor recommend. Very run-down accommodations, overworked dinner waitstaff, grounds liablilites in the dark (if you have to walk from the cottage or parking lot to the main house at night), zero amenities in the cottage rooms (aside from a space heater), and a shower drain that gurgled all night long. One star for the lake, which is beautiful (if you can find the right equipment, good for kayaking or a canoe ride), and one for the breakfast, which was much better than the dinner we had there.

It was a nice stay overall. Last time I stayed here it was in the summer and I think because it is a busier season, the stay was a little nicer. Overall, it’s a charming old house. It just could use some updates honestly; it’s clean however messy with stuff (so not dirty, just clutter on the first floor). The outside by the lake could also use some updates. It’s such a beautiful lake, it would have been better to have more seating, etc. The staff is always friendly no problem there
The photos of the hotel online must be 20 years old, the hotel is very run down and in need of a complete facelift, from the front door to each individual room. I was afraid to open my window due to all the bugs on the windowsill. There were dead bugs on the floor of the room I cleaned as I moved my stuff in. There were cobwebs on the lamp shades and one lamp didn't even work. The chair in the room had lost its cushioning years ago. There was no TV in the room and outside of WiFi, there was no cell service. The pier/dock footings were bent at a dangerous angle, I'm surprised it was even open for guests. The highlight was the restaurant and the staff. The food was excellent (which was good since there was nowhere else around to eat) and the staff treated you like family.
Breakfast was lovely, and the woman who served us was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were clean but carpets and linens were not. Our shower didn’t work but they gave us a slight discount for that. Our biggest complaint was finding out three hours before checking in that the hotel was hosting a drag show the night we were checking in, and so we might have a hard time getting in the front door if we arrived between 8:30 and 10:30pm. I only found out because I called to see if they had any specific instructions for our arrival. Had I known that meant the front door would be blocked by a performer, with a whole audience watching, and that music would be blasting for the two hours, I would have asked them right then to cancel our stay. So if you stay here, I’d ask them first if there is any type of event happening while you’re there.

Great old building and good food at a good price. The Inn is a gem but needs a major update. I was on a fishing trip and it met my needs. The staff was excellent. Many people would not be comfortable with the condition of the property. It's a sweet old building across from a lake and it just needs investment money and TLC.
