About this property
Tennessee Mountain Home in Beautiful Wooded Setting
"The mountains are calling and I must go." (John Muir)
Tennessee Mountain Home is located on the Cumberland Plateau, 3 miles from the south entrance to Fall Creek Falls State Park in Van Buren County, Tennessee. It is situated on 3 acres in a wooded setting.
We are now making it available as a vacation rental when not in use by members of our family. It is the closest rental to the park's south entrance. The nightly rate is $125 and is based on double occupancy. Stay a full week and receive a 15% discount! There is a two-night minimum. Additional guests may stay, but you'll need to contact owners for info regarding that. We do not charge a cleaning fee. We do ask our guests to leave our mountain house in order and reasonable clean - mainly all trash placed in the outside receptacle with lid securely attached - all used kitchen items washed, dried, and put away - or simply left in the drainer to dry. If our guests will assist us in this way, we will be able to continue not charging a cleaning fee. We also do not require a damage deposit and hope that will continue to be the case.
This welcoming little house was completed in the fall of 2017. It was custom built by some of our Mennonite neighbors. It has 720 square feet of living space, a 125 square feet covered back deck, and a 130 square feet concrete patio complete with an outdoor fireplace. You're going to love sitting by a crackling fire in the evenings, listening to the whippoorwills, and watching the occasional deer wander through. As the day settles into evening there is a noticeable stillness and quietness that is so relaxing. On a clear night it's a wonderful place for viewing the star-lit sky.
The house has one bedroom with a queen size bed. There is one bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Bed linens are provided, as well as towels & wash cloths, and dish towels & dish cloths. There is a sofa in the living area. It is NOT a sofa bed. There is also a swivel rocker and ottoman. A smart TV makes it easy for you to access your favorite shows/movies using your personal subscription passwords. Remember to sign out before you check-out
A landline phone is available along with complimentary WiFi via high speed fiber optics service.
The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking and serving supplies. Heating and air-conditioning is provided via a Carrier high wall ductless split system. There is also a wood burning (electric) stove for ambiance and optional heat. Cuddle up in the winter months or open the windows in mild weather to enjoy the refreshing mountain breeze.
Water for the house is provided via a well on the property. It was tested at Tennessee Technological University and is also filtered.
A charcoal grill is on-site but you will need to bring your own charcoal. You will also need to bring your own firewood if you plan to use the fireplace. There are places nearby that sell firewood.

We really enjoyed our stay. Clean, quiet house in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace and seeing deer in the woods behind the house. Very close to Fall Creek Falls park. The host was great. Highly recommend this house!
The property is lovely and convenient to three state parks. We hiked, saw waterfalls, and shopped at the mennonite community. After our activities we had this lovely little home to come back to. It was a perfect place to spend our anniversary. We hope to come back and visit again!
The cabin is very nice and clean. Has everything you need for the kitchen. We used the grill both nights as well as the kitchen. Joe is very nice and responsive. Looking forward to staying again.
Great place to stay. Super cute house, quiet area, very clean and has everything you need. Perfect place to stay for a visit to Fall Creek Falls State Park.
Great little cottage very convenient to Fall Creek Falls SP. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Loved the outside fireplace. Would definitely stay there again.
The location is beautiful, peaceful, and near Fall Creek Falls where my son ran the 50k. I enjoyed taking in the mountain home as a whole. It is well-appointed and served as a solo writing retreat as well.

We had a very pleasant visit. The little house was immaculate, the surroundings quiet, it was all we could have hoped for. Thanks so much !
We enjoyed the quiet nature surroundings and the cozy feel of the living area, bedroom, and bath - a mini house. The back porch was a great place to sit and relax.
This unit is perfect for a getaway, only 3 miles from Fall Creek Falls! You can enjoy some great hiking beautiful views, all while having this nice comfy secluded space!
The property was clean, stocked with most essentials, and private. The close location to Fall Creek Falls was a plus. The only problem for me was that the shower did not have grab bars, which is something I need now. At any rate, we both enjoyed our stay very much.
Perfect house for 2 visiting the area. It was clean and very quiet. The back porch and fireplace was a perfect place to relax after visiting and hiking. And the bed was extremely comfortable.
