The staff were all very friendly, efficient and attentive, from the time we arrived until the time we checked out...
especially Daisy and Jamie
The food was all nice and fresh, and well cooked
Great place for an overnight stay - room comfortable, no view but we already knew that. Limited storage but no problem for overnight. Great buffet breakfast and friendly staff
This is a lovely hotel with stunning views and very helpful and friendly staff. The bar and restaurant have a cozy atmosphere but are quite large. They have a range of rooms and we have stayed in the more budget rooms a couple of times, compact but comfortable. Highly recommended, just take the little lanes of the hill carefully, quaint and fun.
We had a long weekend walking with friends. Fabulous views across the valley and easy access to the moors behind, an abundance of footpaths. We were lucky to have fine autumnal weather for all our stay. The service was excellent, very helpful staff.👍😁
Only 1 night. Got here to late for a meal. But the bar was open so no issue.
Room is great. Clean and freshly refurbished.
Staff were great. Very helpful
Room with balcony, was comfortable with nice decor, lovely bathroom and shower, extremely clean! Not a lot of room but nice view. Shame about the food, breakfast was ok but dinner was very disappointing, both starter and main were overcooked and dry as sticks without any flavour, desserts were of better standard. Staff were friendly and
Helpful, nothing was a trouble.
The Hobbit is lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Good yummy, accommodation very comfortable, had a ground floor, double room, had a large shower, very spacious room, slept sound. Views stunning. I have mobility issues, but managed ok, despite steps to bar & restaurant. However, apparently it is wheelchair accessible if you go around the back, but wouldn’t like to keep doing this, if it was raining. I would definitely stay here again. Ideal location if you are visiting Halifax, just a short car journey away. We stayed her, as we went to a concert at the Victoria Theatre.

Location of property was difficult to locate due road closure but lack good signage as alternative direction, it took over an hour to locate the property from a 1 mile radius. Difficult to get through to customer service by phone.

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Disliked: Cleanliness
Nice staff, food and drink but not clean and dated
The hotel was for the most part really nice, the staff are really friendly and it has a wide selection of drinks and food. We did have a few problems, We stayed in the suit it was very big with a lovely view. It was also clean but all the furniture had marks on and some of the wall paper was coming off the walls also the iron had no plug on it. The biggest one was the big box outside our room that has dirty and mouldy toilet paper in it. It has clearly been there for days as it smelled very badly. This also affected our room as it smelled of damp mold. I did request it to be moved but nothing happened. I'm sure it won't be there on your stay but it is something that needed to be noted.
Had a one night stopover for a gig in Halifax, staying in a superior double room w/balcony overlooking the valley in front.
Room was perfect, clean & quiet, view was awesome. Welcome was friendly and bar was open and accommodating which is always a good thing, right? Being as location is abit off the beaten track we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. This is where things fell apart a little. Whilst the restaurant wasn’t really busy we still had to wait over 40mins for our food, mainly due to miscommunication between the lady serving and the kitchen…15mins went by before we were told our meal order wasn’t even available and had to start again. When the food finally arrived, it wasn’t really worth the wait and never worth the price they were charging.
A small portion of belly pork served with dry rice and withered Asian style greens priced at £17 with a side of sorry looking chips taking it to £20 for one plate. The meal quality and service standard didn’t justify the price. Same could be said for all the other meals ordered in our party too. It also appeared that the lady serving was trying to hold most of the early evening restaurant service together by herself until delays started overwhelming her and more staff then appeared. Breakfast service seemed abit lacklustre the next morning too. Same lady on her own again and delays with replenishing hot food.
Even so, for one night it was fine and I’d recommend a stay but fingers crossed if you do eat here.
Stayed here when we went to a concert in Huddersfield. Service was great everything seemed easy and straight forward, but this is due to the hard work and effort that goes on behind the scenes. Lovely comfy bed, spacious room, helped us book a taxi and find cash points etc… great breakfast too.
Lovely little place to stay, surrounded by hills and narrow roads. Staff were very helpful. We stayed in a superior room with a balcony. The view was lovely. Bed was comfy and bathroom was clean and modern. The room could do with a few touch ups where it’s been knocked, but it’s not enough to put me off staying again if I’m visiting the area. I would definitely stay here again.
