VIRUS CONCERNS: We recognize that all parents and grandparents are concerned about doing everything they can to protect the health of their families. We feel the same way and do everything we can to give you confidence that your family’s health is protected at North Haven Family Retreat. Here are the details. First, the house is thoroughly cleaned by our housekeeping staff. Then, upon your arrival, you will find that we have provided commercially laundered bed linens for your family, including freshly laundered sheets, mattress covers, blankets and two freshly laundered cases for each bed pillow. And we provide a large supply of wipes for you in the case that you chose to do additional sanitizing.

At your option, the house offers optional Orkin VitalClean third party professional sanitation service prior to check-in. Orkin's trained technicians wipe down all high-touch surfaces followed by a misting application using specialized equipment and its EPA "List N" disinfectant which is both effective against viruses including COVID-19 and also carries the EPA's lowest toxicity rating (Category IV), defined as “practically non-toxic and not an irritant.” Let us know what else we can do to make you confident that your family gathering will be safe and relaxing. With large open rooms and acres of lawn the whole family can relax, dine and play together in the house, around the pool and outdoors. All the luxury of a bed & breakfast experience exclusively for your family. We'll even provide fresh coffee and treats in the pool house for you to wake up to.


HEATED INDOOR POOL: The heated indoor pool is attached to the house and insures great family fun rain or shine. Large windows and six skylights make the pool and surrounding recreation room a bright and airy space. There is plenty of poolside dining and comfortable seating for watching the large screen TV.

LAKE MICHIGAN BEACHES & WATERFRONT PARKS: Lake Michigan beaches and waterfront parks are abundant and very close by. The house is located just a mile from the Casco Beach and Preserve. A ten minute drive to the South takes you to the famous South Beach and South Haven Lighthouse. Ten minutes to the North takes you to Oval Beach Saugatuck, ranked nationally among the top 10 US beaches. And the 400 acre VanBuren State park is just 12 miles away and features beautiful waterfront sand dunes.

MAIN HOUSE & GUEST WING: With a combined 6100 square feet, The Haven offers families a variety of spaces for relaxing, eating and comfortable sleeping. The original Main House features four bedrooms on the second floor and two full bathrooms. It’s large kitchen offers two refrigerators, two dishwashers, two ovens and two microwaves. The kitchen island provides plenty of additional kitchen prep space and seating for 8. The adjacent dining area seats 20 and when combined with the kitchen island provides seating for 28 people in the same room. The living room includes a fireplace and comfortable seating for reading and conversation.

The Guest Wing offers another five bedrooms, three more bathrooms, an efficiency kitchen/coffee bar, den and tables for games and refreshments. A washer and dryer are also available for guest use. The Main House and Guest Wing are connected by the Pool and its large Recreation Room. The Rec Room has a bar with stools, a seating area for TV watching and a poolside dining space that seats eight.

PRIVATE OUTDOOR COMPOUND - A tree lined driveway leads you in to this very private and fenced 5 acre parcel – you won’t even see another house from the massive grounds. A large patio with stone fire pit is located directly off the pool providing a perfect place for grilling, outdoor dining and fireside gatherings.

Our innkeeper stays on property in adjacent accommodations so she is available on short notice for anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable or fun.

HISTORIC HIDEOUT: Local lore has it that Chicago gangster Bugsy Moran's mistress lived in this house, formerly known as the Hideout. During the years that he worked with the mob Bugsy used the out buildings to store prohibition era liquor. We’ve looked. Bugsy didn’t leave behind any bathtub gin !

CANCELLATION & TRAVEL PROTECTION POLICIES: We do not offer refunds for cancelled reservations. Our cancellation policy needs to be this strict because most families book their gatherings 5 to 7 months in advance. As such even 60 days notice often does not allow for a comparable rebooking. Therefore we strongly recommend that you purchase VRBO's Travel Protection policy. We will even reimburse you for half the cost of that policy if unused at check out. In addition, if you do have to cancel for any reason, we will use our best effort to rebook your dates with another family to recover any uninsured loss of your investment.
