This is such a nice place to bring a family. Lots of room and a big yard for kids. Close to nearby towns for some sight-seeing. The big kitchen is perfect for cooking family meals.
This is the second year in a row our family stayed at this house for a Notre Dame football weekend. There’s lots of room, it’s clean and not far from Notre Dame campus. Would definitely recommend staying here.
My family and I loved staying at this rental for our Notre Dame football weekend. The place was clean and very spacious with room for my grandsons to run around. It was so much nicer than being in a hotel room. We would definitely stay here again.
We loved the bones of the house and for the price, we were quite satisfied. Plenty of space, nice layout, beautiful staircase and foyer. Nice fireplace in the living room. Excellent kitchen, nice dining room. The house was, in it's time, a real beauty and the setting is very peaceful...but it's time for some TLC on the property in general...carpets, doors, woodwork all need re-freshing and or reworking. Bathrooms are clean but in the original 1950's condition. A water softener/filtering system is badly needed, it is undrinkable. This was clearly stated in the listing so it was not a suprise and we were happy to find stocked waters and a bag of commercial ice in the freezer,....we are used to well water, it isn't anything new to us.... but this is on a whole other level.
My family and I have been staying here for the last few years for our annual Notre Dame football weekend. It’s in a really nice area and not a far drive from ND campus. It has lots of room and is much nicer than staying in a hotel.
We chose this house for the size! We wanted a large space to gather as a family for the holiday weekend. It was perfect! Large dining area with table and chairs, a real wood fireplace that we enjoyed in the living room and spacious bedrooms for everyone to spread out!
Nice place to stay.. an old farm house.. Does not have a washer and dryer... we did not find the Brita Filter they promised for drinking water but we planned to bring our own anyway....
Great rental - stately county home with lots of space and easy trip to/from ND
If you appreciate rustic charm and good design, want lots of space and everything you could need for an extended stay, this is a beautiful and comfortable property. If you’re not from the country and are expecting newly renovated spaces and modern marble finishes at the Hilton, this probably isn’t for you as it has a lot of rustic charm and antique fixtures and finishes. Definitely a lot of charm and timeless beauty and it was well kept and very clean. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of the host/property manager who was clearly committed to us having a great stay and we loved this place and enjoyed all the space and amenities.
A beautiful house in an even more beautiful country side. My family and I stayed in it for an extended period of time and absolutely loved it. The owner and property manager were very accommodating, easy to get ahold of and went out of their way to help us out. They were fantastic. If you are looking for a quiet, out of the way stay where you wake up every day to nature, this is the house for you. Highly recommend and thank you so much for letting us stay!
My family (me, two daughters, son-in-law, two grandchildren) visited my sisters (in Bremen, thirteen minutes) for the long holiday weekend. We found the Farmhouse to be beautiful and were very happy with it. It was plenty big enough for all of us and very comfortable. My granddaughter loved the big tree swing, and my son-in-law loved the bit of history from the welcome book. It was a bit rustic, but as a "farmhouse" I expected that. It's been a well-loved home, and it shows. A lot of the original fixtures are still in place along with the updated ones. The setting is quite peaceful and large enough to run off energy! I would suggest bringing drinking water as is mentioned in the description, and we struggled a bit at first with the Apple TV as we are just not familiar with it. We will definitely check the availability of The Farmhouse for our future trips!
The house was not ready at check in time. There was only one properly functioning toilet of the three in the home, for seven people. The plumber arrived on the 3rd day of our stay, less than 24 hours before our check out time. This home has so much potential. However, several areas, (like the screen porch which had large holes in the screens, & a door that doesn’t close) are in a state of total disrepair. This home needs a thorough deep cleaning. The carpeting was badly stained, and some closets were filled with clothing/personal items. We expressed our concerns to the property manager but they “… do not feel that your concerns merit a refund. We apologize that your experience was lacking….”
The property is quiet and quite lovely. The kitchen, although nicely done, was inadequate for our needs. There was not a decent pan for frying eggs, only 3 table knives in the drawer. And the cutlery was pretty much useless. The Farmhouse sink is great for bathing children, but a dishpan (as well as a dish rack) would be helpful for actually washing dishes.
The large dining room table was perfect. Chairs, not so much. Beds were comfortable, A/C worked well. We spent much time out in the yard playing games, it is perfect for that.
Internet is as good as can be expected for a country property, the "smart TV" as advertised is an Apple TV connected to the TV. Couldn't get much on it. Was able to Air Play some videos from a Mac computer, so that was nice.
We had a wonderful weekend here, the goal was family time and that was achieved. I recommend this property, bring plenty of drinking water with you.
The property was perfect for our Notre Dame family weekend. Everything was clean. The home was beautiful and had plenty of room for all 10 of us. The property manager was easy to reach when we had a question. Would definitely rent here again. Was our favorite of all of our rentals in the past 5 years.
We live in OH but our son was getting married here so we wanted a place where a few of us family could stay and we could also host the wedding rehearsal/rehearsal dinner...since their venue didn't allow for a rehearsal. This place ended up being the hub for the weekend as all their wedding photos were also done on the property. From the porch swing to the bonfire location to the neighbors horse we could pet - it was awesome. The lighting in the dining room was perfect for the photographer to do some indoor photos also. Kitchen well stocked and we had everything we needed for entire weekend. Beds were all comfy/clean. If I had to find a drawback it would only be for those who like all the amenities of a new construct place....if you prefer fancy bathrooms and such. For us, we loved the aesthetic of the entire place. We all had hot showers and the A/C worked great! Tons of space AND a 1st floor BR for my in laws.
This is a beautiful property. My family stayed here during a wedding in South Bend. It was perfect for a combination of adults, teen agers, and young children. Very comfortable.
Spacious property and beautiful yard. The house required some repairs, but the owners were actively working to complete them, e.g., repair companies were arriving just as our party was checking out. Both points of contact during my stay were very kind and prompt!
We were in town for a family reunion, so were not at the house much during the day, but we had a very comfortable stay there and would definitely stay again.
This was our second time to stay in this beautiful home in a lovely rural setting. It's a very peaceful and relaxing place, with plenty of room to spread out. It's also close enough to nearby towns to drive in for a visit. We would definitely consider staying here again.
The Madison Rd Farm House was a perfect place for our family gathering to see our son & his wife after his long naval deployment in the middle east. The bedrooms spacious, 2 1/2 bathrooms were private, clean, and lots of hot water for showers/baths. Our family cooks and so enjoyed the workable kitchen fully stocked with cookware, pantry had ingredients available if we had forgotten any. The Dining room & table was large to accommodate all of us and the high chair available was so helpful. The property provided fun activities for all ages and the setting and home made you feel like you were in a story book. This home truly made you feel like you were in your own home. Our children and grandchildren loved the time spent together in this wonderful setting. We are hoping to come back again soon! Thanks so much!
