Beautiful 180 degree view of the straight, the ferry dock and beach. Close to the amazing museum, Coho Joe’s. The bakery and Co-op store. We took in the Bere Point trail and the lighthouse. We had a good time despite the somewhat rainy weather. Interesting place.
Sointula is a photographer's paradise! My only regret is that we only stayed for one night. Our room had a water view that you could watch all day long. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and courteous. There is a kitchen that guests can use to prepare their own food. The water in the hotel is very soft and drinkable. We are hoping to return again, this time staying for a few days of rest and relaxation!
The room was clean, comfortable and had a lovely view of the ocean
The manager at the hotel was very helpful. I would use this hotel again in the future
Hotel was right on the waterfront and near the Ferry Terminal so perfect if you needed to get an early ferry ride. Restaurant was overlooking the water. Rooms were comfortable.
This quirky little hotel was a lovely stop on our trip to Malcolm Island. It's an older property, but it had everything we needed at the end of a long day of exploring. It was evident that the owners are working hard on updates, upgrades and renovations. My personal favourite was the crocheted afghans on the chairs on the deck. Such a homey touch!

Beautiful view from the deck and wonderful to hear the sound of the waves at night.
Great stay. Room was brand new and clean. Bed very comfortable. Awesome patio. Only down points were hearing early ferry horns and a bathroom fan that we couldn't seem to turn off. Recommended.
We loved the personal attention by the staff and sitting on the balcony in front of the sea. We also appreciated the access to the kitchen (which we used) and the laundry (which we did not need).
All wonderful except the food. Butter chicken? maybe they should buy a Presidents Choice and thaw it when necessary. Bill didn't like his either. I think his was a salad, not sure. Coho Joes food was much better. and I forgot to say the fridge wasn't working .The bed, view, bathroom , etc were A1. also, the staff.

north island retreat
Sointula was a lovely little town with very friendly people and beautiful shoreline to visit. We stayed in a room with oceanview beach front balcony, a perfect spot to watch sunset. Very friendly and resourceful hotel staff ready to help making your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Due to the age of the building, sound proofing is not great, so bring a pair of ear plugs if you're sensitive to noise. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay at Oceanfront Hotel :)
Very nice hotel right on the ocean. The 20 min ferry ride lands just a few houses down so it's easy access when coming and going off the island. There are stores open certain days/times but gas and grocery is open 7 days a week. The Island is full of nature and lots of little hiking trials. Very friendly perminant residents. Pet friendly. Hotel owners do have a big dog!!
Note **Every room is located on the second floor, so if you have mobility issues it could be a problem**

Disappointing
The hotel is very outdated. They claim to have free wifi but in fact, we couldn't get a connection for the 2 nights we were there. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was that they have no food available to purchase. When we looked prior to booking, it looked like they have a pub. Well, they do, but no food! Given the coop on Sointula is closed on a Sunday and Monday, choices were very limited. There is a bakery and a cafe close by, but their hours are limited also.

Room phone not working. Mattress fell through.
Front desk closed at 9 pm.
Room phone not working.
Rolled off the bed twice at night with big bang as one side of the mattress fell through with big cracking sound. First time, I lifted up the mattress and rearranged the wooden cross bars but happened one more time waking up my wife and me. Not a big deal but needs repair.
Others are all good.

Cozy room on Malcolm Island
Staff were friendly and happy to offer assistance with amenities and things to explore on the island. The room was very clean and cozy with a comfortable bed. The shower took a long time to heat up but worked great otherwise. Sounds travels easily but other guests were respectful so it did not pose a problem to us. Overall a great stay and we look forward to coming back to Malcolm Island.
Great Inn, you can throw a rock into the water from your balcony. The owners are over the top in insuring you have an excellent visit. If you like to fish, Ray will do everything and all you have to do is reel and fight. The views are out of this world, from my balcony I saw Orcas, otters, humpbacks, and Dolphins.
