had potential

Could have been a great old style hotel. But not maintained very well. Carpet in the room was horribly stained. Traveling with a colleague and their room carpet was only slightly better. The entire hotel smelled musty everywhere. A/C cooled the room, but did not remove moisture. Shower needed grout cleaning, badly. I was hoping for much better.

Great location in Shanghai's French Concession

Set in gardens in the French Concession, rare in Shanghai, this beautiful old hotel is close to many Western-style restaurants and bars but within walking distance of Chinese alternatives and two Metro stations. Air-conditioned taxis can easily be obtained at the gate which can take you anywhere else. Excellent service and comfortable rooms in a 1920s - 30s setting, it has far more character than most hotels in the city.

Good hotel with a strong sense of history

We enjoyed staying here very much. The location is good with numerous restaurants nearby. The "old" part of the hotel (there is a modern block across the road) is a delightful building, the rooms are traditionally furnished and very confortable, and the staff were immensely helpful. The swimming pool in the new block is a great facility too. There is not much in the way of a bar but otherwise we were very happy with everything.

Godt hotel til prisen. Nemt til metro, spisesteder og shopping. Pænt og rent. Prøvede ikke restauranten, men valgte at spise morgenmad på nærliggende cafe, det var ca halv pris. Kunne fint finde på at vælge Donghu Garden Hotel, hvis jeg igen skal til Shanghai

great location,good service.

I stayed 2 nights at deluxe view room and had a good time. The staff was very kind and helpful.The location was great with nice restaurants ,bars,and massage shops,and you can reach the main street(nanjing road) in short time.I especially enjoyed classical mood of the area including hotel. (bathroom requires renovation,but it was clean having all you need)

Un hôtel confortable et bien situé

Bon petit déjeuner, à la fois occidental et chinois. Chambres bien équipées (balance, pantoufles, brosse à dents, ...) et de bonne taille avec lit "king size". Raisonnablement calme dans le contexte chinois. Par contre la moquette mériterait d'être changée (chambre 11529) et surtout impossibilité d'accéder à Internet malgré le cable Ethernet présent (chanmbres 11529 et 11500).

日本語がまったく通じないのには参りました。 歴史ある建物なのでそういった雰囲気の好きな方には良いかと思います。 ホテルの側に日本風居酒屋などもあり食事には困らないです。

One night at donghu

Dear, I booked the hotel for my business partners who arrived in shanghai very late. We came to the hotel but it was very bad behavior from the reception lady. And didnt even show us to the room so we had to look for it. There was no wifi nor the breakfast included in the room as it showed on your website. Very nice decoration as we all agreed but we had to change our hotel the day after

Nära allt i French Consession

Hotellet var mycket bra, de städade direkt när man lämnade rummet och de gjorde det väldigt snabbt. Det var väldigt nära till populära matställen såsom Element Fresh, Wagas och Sprout Works. Var man sugen på nattmat fanns det hamburgare på Dakota. Det bästa var att tog man höger från hotellet kom man snabbt till huvudgatan med shopping, vänstra vägen från hotellet ledde även den till en shoppinggata men denna var betydligt mindre. Följde man den vänstra uppåt så kom man till slut till den populära "Nya Gamla Stan" som hade oändligt med matställen (ca 20 minuter promenad bort). Ett virrvarr av taxibilar utanför hotellet, så var aldrig direkt tvungen att vänta på taxi heller. Rekommenderas varmt, både utifrån läget och standard på hotellet.

こちらが指定した予約内容は1部屋を成人3人で使うというもので、Hotels.comからのメールでは客室の詳細 : キングサイズベッド1 台 シングルサイズベッド2 台であったのに、ツインベッドが2台しかなかった。その旨をフロントに言ったが「当ホテルは1室成人2人までしか受け付けておらず、どうしてももう1台ベッドが欲しければ100元払え」という回答であった。「それなら何で1部屋3人の予約を取ったのか？」と聞きたかったのだが、こちらの語学力の無さに引き下がらざるを得なかった。そのうえ、チェックインもものすごく無愛想で手続きが終わったらようやくニコリともせずに小さい声で”Welcome”と一言。宿泊料金他の税およびサービス料には3台目のベッド代は入っていなかったのか?

Nice and quiet location

Liked it very much, but the staff are not top service minded. Tried to reserve two rooms side by side several month before, but they did not fix that. We tried to have an early breakfast when we leaved at 6 o’clock, but they could not help us. Some strange lobby area with sofas that are not allowed to use.

Schön und gut gelegen

Sehr schönes, grosses Zimmer mit Balkon in guter Umgebung. Die Reception war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der einzige, aber grosse Nachteil ist, dass es kein Wifi im Zimmer gibt.

Traditionelles Hotel in ausgezeichneter Lage nahe der Huaihai Street (U-Bahn South Shaanxi Street). Guter Service, aber nicht wahnsinnig freundlich. Zimmer sehr ordentlich, sauber und komfortabel. Wäscheservice verboten teuer.
