This time, I got a quiet room, which was a big improvement over past noisy stays. For the price, it was great—spacious, quiet, with good Wi-Fi, TV, and hallway access to drinking water. Essentials like soap, shampoo, toilet paper, and towels were all provided. A solid budget-friendly option in a great location. Just be sure to request a room away from the street if you're sensitive to noise.

People who work there are very friendly and helpful / polite. Place is very fair priced. Rooms (at least mine, smallest category) are very simple and very small. Breakfast is small but enjoyable. Overall - very recommendable - and perfect for small budget.

The location is the main attraction, for sure! You'll be within walking distance to some of the city's most iconic places. Depending on the room you get and its location in the building, your mornings could be very noisy or tolerable due to traffic outside.

The location is the BEST! it is walkable to the main places in la Zona Colonial. It is affordable, easy to check in and check out. I recommended for thoes who just want to leave your bags and walk and be out all day. It a simple hotel, to check in and check out. Its not the best for resting and having a comfortable silent evening.

I booked Hotel Discovery because I was looking for an inexpensive stay. I knew going in that this was not going to be a 5-Star Hotel. It is a small, locally owned and operated hotel. My room was clean and the air conditioning worked. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. There is a little corner store downstairs with very friendly people. The hotel is only a one minute walk from Calle El Conde, which is the main pedestrian road through the zona colonial and along the Conde there are many different food options. There's several American chain restaurants. There are many restaurants that have international menus with American, Italian, Mexican, Dominican, etc. sections. A less than 15 minute walk gets you to Barrio Chino (China Town). I found the area to be pretty safe. I never once felt uncomfortable in my surroundings and I went into the local neighborhoods where most tourists are afraid to go and hung out with the locals. There is a park behind the old monastery that does a block party every Sunday at 6 pm. If you want REAL Dominican food, it's neighborhood restaurants like this that you want to check out. I have found Dominicans to be some of the most friendly and hospitable people I have ever met. This was not my first trip to Santo Domingo, but it was my first stay at Hotel Discovery. I will be back. You are in Latin America. Keep in mind that loud traffic ans bugs are common.

Overall, the stay was modest but met my basic needs for one night. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and hot and cold water were available. The fan worked well since there was no air conditioning, and the Wi-Fi was slow but usable. The window did not have a lock, which should be improved for safety. I also believe the hotel could benefit from clearer professional boundaries and stronger guest privacy practices. For a budget stay it was acceptable, but better attention to safety and professionalism would make the experience more reassuring.
