Safe, clean, and quiet. In the middle of Chinatown on a pedestrian only street. You can pick up your taxi or uber at the corner with ease. Police presence and police cameras around town make it safer than other areas. The staff is very supportive and will offer their guidance for a better stay. Safety lockers available. Mattress remarkably comfortable.

Lola's is centrally located & accessible to major bus stations, train, shopping, museums, eating & night life. The staff treats you like family, answers questions instantly. The security here in my opinion is the best in town. I even witnessed the host bring lunch for a guest that had no food upon arrival. I feel at home staying at Lolas, this is definitely my go to place in beautiful San Jose. Thank you!!

Great stay at Lola’s during off peak season. We were right in the heart of the city, which is convenient but noisy! We stayed in the King Room, sadly the stove wasn’t working but that was okay. Dyla was super kind, helpful, and let us know about events that were going on during the day. My only concern was the noise. There are a few clubs/bars close by that play music and have people drinking and yelling so expect that- regular city living. Other than that, great stay & great host.

There was no one onsite when I arrived a little past 5 (reception off at 5pm), I had no internet (no place to buy SIM card nearby) and a lady across the street helped me to call but no one answered. It got me a bit worried being in San Jose after dark; wish entry instruction was communicated beforehand. Eventually I got in contact with the owner and the night shift staff onsite, Dyla, was AMAZING! The place is clean but no window in the room except for an opening towards the hall. I saw no one in the building, with the lights off and doubled-gated entrance, it was kind of spooky. It is close to bus stations and being on this street (and this street only) is safe so I still recommend to stay at Lolas.

Beautiful place in Barrio Chino

First night to start a Costa Rica trip. The hostel was a bit hard to spot since there is no sign but I had saved it on Google Maps. The neighborhood is a bit quiet/dodgy at times but the entrance is more than safe. Decoration inside is beautiful, art-deco style and the host is very friendly.

Lolas is decorated beautifully and is so adorable. It felt super safe as there were cameras everywhere and it was gated. The property is a 7 minute walk to the bus stop, and was the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed at. There wasnt AC but the fans kept it cool enough to sleep. The woman Dila was also so lovely & helpful. Thank you so much!

My first trip to Costa Rica and San Jose was a success thanks to choosing Lolas as my place to stay. Its convenient walking street was very safe and convenient to museums, shots, and restaurants. There was an affordable garage around the corner, but I didn’t have a car. The facilities were pristine, with great common areas for congregating and dining. The responsiveness and level of service was incredible. I had a prove room, it was great. I really had such a wonderful time. I cannot recommend this place more highly. :) thanks!

No parking, they charge me for parking for extra, no hot water for Shawer at all. No sign on front of hostel, I was suffering to find its place in 2:AM, even taxi driver had difficulties to find the address. The administrator of this place was very kind and helpful lady, but this place is nightmare, I will never rent this place again. All doors always locked up like a prison, some other guest always talking with phone loudly and annoying others.
